Shiny
Avira and MSE are both reporting a trojan, specificall Alureon, running on my computer. Both programs cannot delete it. I've posted a hijack this report, and am currently running a scane with Malwarebytes. What can I do to kill it, if they don't work? Can this trojan hop drives? I'm running windows 7, off a 250GB Hard Drive, with the trojan I believe infecting my WD 1TB drive.
Tim
MalwareBytes in SAFE MODE, then give it a try with ComboFix in safe mode also. Popoto.~<
Shiny
I've taken a look at my computer, and my documents and i've backed up what I want to keep. Tomorrow, I am carrying out a reformat of both drives, a repartition and a reformat. I am installing windows on the 250GB drive. I'll be carrying out the drive reformats off a Ubuntu bootable disc, coupled with a few scans off it using the virus software with it. Should be alright? Shiny
Format both drives twice, reinstalled W7, still getting the trojan. Installed Ubuntu and it is freezing.

Shiny
No I assumed a format would have done it. What do I need to do kill the filesystem at the end of the disc?
Guy
I am not intending to troll - but isn't this the sort of time that sticking a big magnet next to your HDD would actually work? Or does it damage other parts of the HDD as well as wiping the platters. Don't do that though, I've got no idea what would happen.
