In The Prisoner of Glouphrie, if you didn't actually look at the picture of the Grand Tree, the answer "I can't remember" is accepted.

 

Apology: sorry, I did the quest when it came out and only just saw your guide, so I am not 100% sure of the exact wording of the answer.

 

How did I find this out? Well, I run with smart cursors turned on because, despite looking horrible, they are helpful. When I got the 'do something here' cursor, I straight away right clicked to search the picture without ever examining it. When the question comes up, I had no idea and hadn't seen it 'in-game' so had to actually tell the truth (shock! horror!).

A valid tip, but it applies to all the questions you can "I don;t know" One of them, possibly 2 and still "win" its only excessive i dont knows/wrong answer tht fails you.

 

However its alos worth noting that unless you do it EPICALLY lazily like you did you're gonn notice what your clicking on and if you are using the guide it tells you the answer anyway, so why worry?

Same thing happened to me I had been doing the quest before the guide came out, and all I did was to search everything that could be searched in cave.... Of course I was a little shocked when question 'What is on the picture?' arose so I actually told the truth as the Glarblrot did. In game dialogue said something like that: 'I don't remember what was on the picture, but there was a jar of glue hidden behind it'

Yep. This must be the case. I also did the quest before the guide, and however i knew the answer about the picture, i didn't remember the answer for one of the other questions: to whom was the letter addressed. So i answered i don't know for that question and still convinced the old gnome.
