Can you get a strange rock from thieving the desert phoenix?

I haven't been able to find any positive or negative confirmation about this.

I'm not totally sure, but I think that the only things that you can get a strange rock from while doing thieving is from:

1. Pickpocketing.

2. Looting chests.

3. Stealing from stalls.

 

So I think that it is a no that answers your question. But note, I'm not totally sure.
