Some questions regarding rock lobsters

87 Magic. 92 Summoning (almost, 10k experience to 92). Wolpertingers. Yay.

Thinking about possibly bursting/barraging/whatevering rock lobsters, to get

a. Summoning charms. I like summoning.

b. Higher magic level to possibly bind a good staff in dungeoneering (level 100)

Anyways, some questions I have regarding maging rock lobsters if someone could answer:

1. If I use Magic Focus to have 94/87 magic, would I not have the 21% damage bonus for boosting your magic level above your base? Or do I need to boost above the base level of the spell?

2. Will Celestial Surgebox work with spells you don't charge into it? I.E. Ice barrage, if I simply hold the csb will I still get the bonus hits?

3. If that does work, does the surgebox extra hit only apply to one monster, or all nine?

4. Does the arcane stream necklace/chaotic staff spell damage bonuses apply to every hit, or just that of the target monster?

5. And finally, if I went to Rock lobsters, should I wear Ahrims or battle robes, and chaotic staff or staff of light? I have Chaotic staff already and can afford all the robe/staff options.

Thanks to whoever answers, I appreciate it. I couldn't find any of those answers anywhere else yet.

1. You should still get the 21% damage bonus. I do not know this for a fact, however.

2. No.

3. N/A

4. The term hit is fairly vague; to me, a hit is a successful attempt to deal damage during combat. But definitions aside, the Magic Damage Boost that certain items give - such as the arcane stream/chaotic staff - applies ONLY to the target monster (or player in a PVP scenario.)

5. Battle robes/staff of light is the better option. Also, don't take any arcane stream or any of the DG mage amulets/necklaces. Explanation below.

Battle robes has almost the same magic bonus as Ahrims; Ahrims has significantly more defense but you should be using prayer at rock lobsters, whereas battle robes saves a lot of runes. The chaotic staff is actually a really bad choice at rock lobsters - because the magic damage only applies to one lobster, it means that one lobster dies faster then the rest, and thus spawns faster then the rest - this can be a problem if the lobster you kill happens to respawn before you're done killing the rest and starts attacking you. (This has happened to me.) In fact, the only reason the staff of light is good is the runes it saves - the magic bonus is actually a detriment there. This is also why you want to avoid the DG mage amulets/necklaces.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Just the target, so don't use it at lobs ideally.

Ahrims and SOL. SoL because the runes it saves are nice, and as stated above the extra bonus from the Chaotic staff isn't really a good thing. Ahrims because if you're not relatively poor, the time spent getting robes is longer than the time spent paying for more runes. There's calculations everywhere for it, but one place would be http://forum.tip.it/topic/280097-effigyscape-wip/ (in the lobs vs waterfiends section). I'm assuming you're not poor and/or have some decent way to make money based on the 'can afford all the options'.
