need figure advice

hey everyone, im getting back into drawing\ cging and im having trouble with figures(people). I start with the modifyed stick figure with circles at the joints. where it starts falling apart is the thickness of the limbs; anyone got any tutorials or any advice on how i could fix my figures? my perportions length ways are okay its just im having trouble getting limbs thickness right

couple of weeks ago I have been to an art shop to get some stuff..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I see they sell some small dummy (about 30cm tall). You can get it into different pose (apart from some weird one of course) It cost probably around $20 dollars or something...look around. It should be there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the other shop I even see a horse dummy.

i got something like that and i got a ton of reference poses and such my problem is taking the image that im given and being able to replicate it without just going complet xerox. I mean i can copy and image pretty well but i cant build it up, i need something to help me develope the framework and work from the inside out ... that make any sense?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ive found several sites with tutorials but none of them are really helpful, when they use a mehod that thier own creation looks like a kindergarden pagent regect then yea tis time to move on :\
