Is file and printer sharing enabled for the network adapter ?

if so , have you created a new network share for the printer ?

I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theaters

Okay.

Something which I totally don't understand, about anyone asking help here or wherever, is why they think people are psychic, and will know the problem as soon as you say "it doesn't work" (in your case "it won't let me get into windows 2k"). IT'S [bleep]ING NONDESCRIPT! You're not saying what you're doing. You're not saying what happens. You're just saying "I can't do it, guess my problem." Well guess what, WE'RE NOT PSYCHIC.

1. "neither laptops can add the printer. the printer is attached to a cpu..." - Is that CPU one of the laptops? (Note that CPU means Central Processing Unit, and even if you want to use it as some botched-up abbreviation for 'computer', laptops are computers too...)

2. What OS are the two laptops running?

3. Are there any other machines in your network? What OS do they run? Can they access the printer?

4. Can you access filesharing on the windows 2k machine from either of the laptops?

5. Have you checked whether all machines share the same workgroup?

6. Have you tried using the Windows XP (assuming at least one of the machines runs that) Home Network Setup Wizard?

7. How are you trying to add the printer? Exact steps please.

8. What happens when you try to "get into windows 2k"?

9. What printer are we talking about? Brand, model, etc.?

10. Why can't you take the trouble of using some punctuation, spelling, grammar and Capitalization - it'd make your post so much more readable.

In short: READABLE DETAILS PLEASE!

I should seriously save this rant somewhere, all you people make the same mistakes, and I'm getting sick of it.
