Free to play melee training!

Hello! I am currently at 83 combat in free to play runescape.

My relevant levels are:

Attack: 70

Strength:78

Defence:45

Hitpoints:74

Prayer:45

I have two main issues that I would like advice on:

1) The purchase of a gravite rapier for training and the training method.

2) Where to take my melee stats from here (This account is my main but I would like it to have some "kickass" levels).

Issue 1

My dungeoneering level is 70 and I have purchased a gravite 2h which I really enjoy using (got to 10k fist of guthix rating with it :L)

I am debating whether to dungeoneer again and get a gravite rapier for training so any views on this would be helpful.

As far as training is concerned, I intend to train on giant spiders in the 3rd level of the sos with an inventory consisting of:

a cornucpia, 2 strength potions, and 25 cakes.

Is there a better method of training for me (I would either be doing this with a rapier or a rune scim).

Issue 2

With regard to my combat stats, I have two different setups in my mind:

1) 99 attack, 99 strength, 45 defence, 45 prayer, 99 constitution (105 combat)

This was my original plan but 45 defence and 45 prayer may be hard to maintain for me due to accidental experience (45 defence was originally for the rune beserker shield). It would mean I could still use a fractite 2h for dungeoneering. Is the defence too low for a main?

2) 80 attack, 99 strength, 60 defence, 48 prayer (103 combat)

This was a setup I recently thought of, as it would allow me to still hit accurately whilst boosting my defence to a respectable level and allowing me the use of an amulet of zealots in fist of guthix (If I ever acquired one). Also I would be able to wear corrupt dragon armour but who uses that crap lol...

I like the idea of both of these because they both seem fairly viable and 1 level in any stat would push me over the next cb lvl boundary, so they feel "maxed". However, if you have any other ideas then it would be really cool if you'd share them with me

Thank you if you have read this wall of my mind's ramblings, and any feedback is greatly appreciated as I would like reassurance one way or the other before I make an unrectifiable mistake on my account as I have fairly high skills for a f2p'er.

Please discuss!!! :shades:

EDIT: the second build would mean I would have to use a fractite maul for dungeoneering. Is this neccasarily a bad thing?

I'd choose the setup number 1.

With 45 defence you should train in the second level of the Stronghold of Security. Flesh crawlers are also aggressive, but they hit a lot less.

You should use 2h while dungeoneering if you don't want to get def xp.

About the rapier, if you enjoy dungeoneering, get it. It's a little bit better than rune scimitar and it is worth it if you don't mind wasting some tokens/cash to recharge it every once in a while.

Hope I helped. ;)

1) The purchase of a gravite rapier for training and the training method.

Unless you're planning to get 120 Dungeoneering, it's a total waste of tokens/dg time to use a Rapier for training. It only gives like 1K xp/h more which is nothing.

About 2), I would just go for 99 in everything. That's even more kickass and doesn't limit you :)
