In an effort to improve our users' security, the administrative team has removed the following profile fields from public view:

• AIM
  
• MSN
  
• Yahoo
  
• Skype

These fields have been hidden because they are often linked to e-mail addresses, which can be used when recovering RuneScape or Tip.It Forum accounts, or even hijacking e-mail accounts directly. Of course users are still welcome to share their contact information with friends privately, but we don't see a need to allow them to be displayed for everyone to see and easily find on profiles and search engines.

 

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of securing all your e-mail address accounts, especially ones linked to websites (including Tip.It, RuneScape, and social media sites like Facebook). If you have any accounts linked to such websites, it's important that you log in, check messages, and change passwords regularly. Inactive or infrequently used accounts are more susceptible to hacking and hijacking (especially without your notice). If possible, we also strongly recommend that you use GMail for your e-mail accounts and enable two-step verification for additional security.

 

Tip.It has not been compromised in any way; we just want to ensure that your online accounts are as protected as possible, and that you're aware of all risks and security measures. Please feel free to post if you have any questions or want to share other security tips!
