Core Unlocker

Hey, in my bios when I start up there was an option called core unlocker and I accidentally pressed a button to do it. What does this actually do and will it boost my PCs performance. I spoke to someone who said it wouldnt as I didnt have 3 cores or something. Here is my CPU and motherboard:

The manufacturing process of CPUs doesn't have a 100% yield. If they produce a quad core CPU and 1 core is defective then they sell it as a tri core. They also disable cores to meet market demand.

 

 

There are two major reasons why certain features are disabled on AMD processors. Cache memory and extra cores on these microprocessors could be disabled due to internal core or memory defects, or to meet market demand. Unfortunately, it's not possible to tell whether the features were locked down because the core or cache memory didn't pass quality assurance tests, or because high-profile OEM company needed a large number of cheap parts with fewer cores and/or smaller size of cache.
