Wilderness, Warbands, PvP: Where to Begin?

Featured Replies

Confession: I'm at combat 111 and I've never killed another player. I love to mop the floor with nasty NPCs, but I guess I'm sort of a Girl Scout when it comes to real players. I'd rather help them out than kill them and steal their stuff. I do know my way around the Wild, for errands and quests and such, but if someone comes after me, I usually just run away, lol.

I was out of the game for a while, and coming back and seeing warbands and the massive XP players are getting, I guess it's about time for me to man up and learn how to kill or be killed. Levels that used to be admirable are now considered noob!

I've checked out some forums here and on the main site, and some YouTube vids on warbands. But I'm not sure how to begin. Any suggestions for entry-level warband attempts, or basic PvP tips?

Thanks!

For Warbands you probably want to join an fc, or you'll end up on the being killed side :P.  I've never done much PvP myself though.

Two public warband fcs you can try are

- Warband 2

- Warband 1

if they dont work try adding  a S to the end. :P Hope you get in!

Thank you. What determines if you get in?

First off, you will need 80 ranged and a rcb. Second, learn pvp ability rotations. Third, be prepared to die a lot if you go without a good fc.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

Thanks Kalei. How does one learn pvp rotations and find a good fc?

I'm not having any luck finding what "rbc" means?

Meant to say rcb.... Royal Crossbow. Finding a good fc is as easy as applying to one on the rsof.

As far as pvp rotations go, you want to make sure that you are using anticipation, debilitate, and snipe as often as possible. You will also want to learn how to use stuns, freedom, and frag shot to their fullest potential; and to do that, you just need to practice pvp with a friend in white portal or something.

Thanks Kalei. I checked out the rcb -- sounds pretty complicated to obtain, forging in the blue flame of the QBD's fourth phase and so on. I'm definitely working on 80 ranged though. Suppose I wanted to learn how to do warbands with simpler gear -- I'm gonna die a bit to learn it anyway, right?  I have 85 mage. Maybe I can work with that?

Most of the good fcs require t80 weapons, so you could mage but it requires more expensive gear and weapons. You'd need a chaotic staff.

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to try a lesser fc until I get the hang of it. I don't think I'll be taking t80 weaponry on the first try. I thank you for your tips though.

You can take polypore staff and just keep your protect item on and bring 2 prayer flasks, you'll be fine.

What determines you getting in tbh I wouldn't know as i have my own fc i use but ive heard of them two fcs

Thanks Juhaa. I've done some further digging and found their are some good fcs that take mages with batwing and a polypore or staff of light. So you can at least get in there and learn the D&D for low risk.

I saw one fc on the official forum that meets at Clan Wars an hour before a warband for combat practice, which might be appealing to players who are newer to PvP. I also noticed that melee requirements are considerably lower than mage and range in some fcs, for example t55 versus t75.
