Semi-afk tips?

Arceus

Recommended Posts

I'm cutting willows and essentially semi-afking it, i.e., studying while occasionally clicking on a tree or the bank when necessary.  I know I can drop quickly by positioning the action bar in the right place but I find just banking them to require less concentration.  I can click with the touchpad instead of using my right hand to right/left click a bunch of times.  I do of course have the sound on to provide assistance in hearing when I need to click again.

So calling on 10+ years of TIF wisdom, any tips or ideas for me to be more efficient, either for this or in general?  I hate to discover these things completely after the fact :P.

Definitely start dropping your logs dude. You waste like 30 seconds every time you bank. Once you stop doing that, you'll never go back

Willows are close to 100% accuracy with a rune hatchet so you have to check the screen at least once every 67.2 seconds. Set up a 65 second interval timer and check RS when it beeps and every time you hear a tree die. It's more xp/hour than waiting for the sound it makes when your inventory is full and you won't get caught off guard by a full inventory.

I know how to drop and I have done it (when non-afk).  I just find it hard to manage that and write/study at the same time.  I'm assuming you get the 67.2 seconds as the time to cut 28 logs if one tree lasts that long?  I'm not quite getting how the timer helps but I'll investigate setting that up.

Yeah 4 ticks per log * 28 logs = 112 ticks = 67.2 seconds

It's good to know how long you have to AFK so that you can study a section of your notes/textbook without being interrupted.

By the way, if you're study for something serious, like your physics final or something, you really don't want to be on rs. You won't retain nearly as much information. Save AFKing for homework and studying for quizzes.

Yeah, not studying for tests, fortunately past that for the most part  :D .  And I guess I have to lower that time a little since it's really only 26 spaces using urns.
