Were Friend Chats known as Clan Chats in the past?

Featured Replies

I just signed in 2007 Runescape and tried to join my clan chat but it did not exist. Then I typed in my own name and it displayed like a Friend Chat interface. Is that true? In the past you were only able to join friend chats but not clans? I remember that me and my friend tried to create a clan chat back in like 2009 or so but it was more of a group related chat.

In the past, it was known as clan chats.

When the Clan Camp update came out with the ability to make your own clan, they made two chats... and the friend's chat now is the old "clan chat" from the past.

Scapin' since September 2007 and Hardcore Ironwoman since October 2014.

Yep it is as Ely says...and it makes it a bit confusing since 'clan chat' refers to something different in each game and they are not both cross-compatible :(.
