February 17, 201610 yr Hello everyone, I'm a returning player on OSRS. I used to play from 2006 to 2010. I used to be on Tipit too before as Silvertaler, but I have long since forgotten my password and the password of the email adress associated with it. An enormous amount of things have changed in 6 years. I haven't gotten into RS3 yet because of how different it is. I have a few questions: 1. Any general advice for OSRS? 2. Do people still actively make and read blogs around here? I can tell that the forums are less active now than before. Loved making progress blogs before. 3. Is RS3 worth trying? I'm playing on my very first account, which is still low level, so I'd almost be starting from scratch, haven't even done Dragon Slayer on it yet. I have another account which is 1800 total and has a saradomin godsword and a few other good possessions in bank but I'm not sure how that has aged since then. I have an impression that in RS3, gold has become easy to get, rares easy to get, because of bond trading and what not, and that all my work amounted to nothing in the end, hence why I would feel like starting all over again if I played it.
February 17, 201610 yr 1. Buying membership and doing all the low-level and transportation quests is a good way to start off, i.e. Witch's Potion, Waterfall, Tree Gnome Village, Fairy Tale series, etc. 2. Yes there seems to be a healthy number here: http://forum.tip.it/forum/59-blogscape-ongoing-progress-reports-and-goals/ . 3. In my (biased) opinion sure, even the low levels are pretty quick to level through if you know what you're doing. Most of the pre-Eoc quests are almost trivialized in difficulty with a decent tier of weapon and armor compared to what they would be on Old School, for example. If you do get into it you should stop by the Combat Academy in Lumbridge, just north of the big castle, and take the tutorial for the new combat system there. You can play it in a legacy system, use the legacy interfaces, or both, if you prefer the old school look on RS3. The Saradomin godsword is still worth a moderate amount as far as weapons go, ~10M since it has a healing special/passive that can be toggled, making it desirable for Slayer, PvM, and lower tier bossing. I'm not sure what you mean y rares - things like h'weens and partyhats are still up there in price. Weapons and armor tiers have been progressively outdated, driving down the prices, though the release of the newest skill being effectively a massive item sink over here has put some life back into them. A lot of things are easier though - for example the joke that you can just go and afk bosses. Bond trading only really allowed a redistribution of wealth based on players spending real money and others trading them the in-game coins in exchange for whatever they consume the bonds for. As a net it doesn't really contribute much toward deflation. I guess I don't understand your comment because Old School also has bonds, and they give away "rares" (drop phats, masks, etc.) every holiday anyway. February 17, 201610 yr Author Thanks for your detailed response, I'm grateful that you've taken your time to write all that. The choice between going back to my high level account or the low level one is still tough. I like the idea of starting fresh out, but I would feel like I'm massively late compared to everyone else and will never catch up with all that has been going on. But it's nice for making a whole new blog and all. Any chance I join your clan? Feeling kinda lonely too here in ORS. I'll definitely try out RS3.
February 17, 201610 yr Hmm up to you ultimately. You could start off with Slayer on your old one - unless you are a very high level in the skill most of the tasks you get should be relatively easy and a good way to find your footing wth the new combat system. And in regards to the clan of course :). Shoot me a PM in-game ("Its Arceus") and I can get you set up. Just FYI though, it's only accessible on RS3 - the clan system doesn't cross over to OSRS.
