Logged in to a hijacking mute, any options?

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

After a 5+ year hiatus I decided to pick up the game. I'm vaguely aware of logging in 2-3 years ago and finding the mute active on my account, but because I generally log in once or twice a year to just screw around quickly I have never worried about it. Now that I'm actually starting to play consistently again, I'm wondering: do I have any options for an appeal? I can no longer speak to anyone in-game and I've found that very limiting.

I'm aware that Jagex has implemented a policy of 'no appeals" for certain bans, and that hijacking is a truly permanent ban, but I figured I should at least give it one last try before accepting my fate. Thanks in advance.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

First off, have you logged in to your account settings (via website) to view the details of it? You should check there to see if it was indeed something you said or if someone else hijacked your account.

Even if it was something you said though, since it's a mute you may be able to get it lifted if you make a compelling case to Jagex - either Reddit or Twitter and asking them may work, with some persistence. I wouldn't recommend trying to pass it off as a hijacker if it was indeed you though. They will see through it rather quickly.

Yeah, I ended up going there and digging around for a while before posting here. The evidence given is "Suspected hijacking". Technically there are two permanent mute records, one for RS forums for spam (evidence: "Repeated spamming"), immediately followed by the permanent mute with "suspected hijacking" as evidence.

Thanks for the tip about contacting them via twitter/reddit, I figured the better process would just be email, so hopefully being more personal about it pays off.

Yeah hopefully it'll help, sounds like someone hijacked it and went on a forum spamming spree. Email is generally no-go, to the best of my knowledge one of their public emails bounces and the other is just ignored.
