Laptop Specs Good Enough to Play?

Hello I bought this laptop a few weeks ago and tried to play but it would semi load and freeze. Are the specs good enough to play, or was it the Wi-Fi connection that was giving me problems? Also does Java need to be installed along with Direct X for the RS Client? One more question is should I be able to play using my Galaxy S8+ as a hotspot with good service? Thank you in advance.

Mine has similar specs and it runes okay, so you should be fine. Is your Wi-Fi connection usually good for other purposes (i.e., watching a video) or is it often sketchy?

You can also open the developer's console (press Alt+`) and type 'displayfps' then the same combination to turn it off again. That can help you to better determine whether you are having a latency or FPS issue.

I don't believe you need Java for the (newer) NXT client - the old one is based off it though. Unless you made a special effort to acquire the legacy content, you probably have NXT. Another thing you could try is running it in compatibility mode if nothing else is working.

Actually speaking of this topic... I tried to restart an ancient PC to try to launch RS NXT now (i5 3xxx series "U").

It complained my intel graphics driver is not updated... but intel dont offer any more update driver for old CPUs.

Somehow it freeze with similar issues, I checked the data is not streaming.

I used to have it run at ultra without any AA or Ambient Occulation with 30 fps+.

Maybe the specs required is higher now?

Unfortunately this is probably due to an outdated (or nonexistent) graphics card. You can run it in compatibility mode to garner greater stability, but performance will take a hit.
