moommoon128
So I just got a new computer and for about a month Runescape was GREAT no lag or anything, then one day I went to the site as normal clicked the low detail button (because I can) and go the following... The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: Click the Refresh button, or try again later. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting). Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings. Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK. Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed. If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0. Click the Back button to try another link. Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer I have tried many things like getting a new Java thingy (i'm not exactly tech savy) but to no avail so please help me I beg you!! dwarfie76
Does it still happen or was this a one-time event? Does it also happen when you try to log into high detail? Can you access other websites without problems? Have you tried with another browser (Firefox or Opera)?
Suzanne_Vega
Have you installed a new HOSTS file recently, or a firewall (including the one built into Windows XP Service Pack 2) ? Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache? Have you recently changed your Java type and\or version? Suzanne Vegatokin rite wurx gud!
moommoon128
in answer to all questions it happens every time I click high or low detail. Other websites work fine on the same computer and it doesn't work in firefox either. I have not installed anything new and I did clean the cookies but I'm not sure what the cache is or if I cleared the cookies correctly (I used tools, internet options then clear files and cookies). Thank you
moommoon128
um I don't mean to be rude but it has been several days since I have been able to play runescape and I think I'm going through withdrawl so could some one help please?
dwarfie76
I'm inclined to be thinking along the same lines as Ms Vega above. That either your hosts file is blocking you, or you're being blocked at the network level (router, domain controller, something like that). try going to a command prompt (start -> run -> type "command" -> OK) and entering: tracert http://jolt7.runescape.com and paste the results back in here. moommoon128
Um sometimes it gives numbers like IP adresses but mostly it says request timed out. Does that mean somethin bad?

dwarfie76
No, that doesn't mean anything bad. It's just little packets of information being sent from computer to computer trying to find a way from yours to the runescape server. It means it's resolving and at least trying to get there, which is a good sign. It just means your problem is obscure and tricky rather than serious :( It might help if you could tell us a bit more about your setup. Are you on dialup or broadband? Are there other computers on your network or do you plug straight into a router/modem to connect to the internet?
moommoon128
I have no idea about broadband or dialup but there are other computers on the network.
dwarfie76
OK, can the other computers on the network connect to runescape or is it just yours?
