DRAGONSTONE PRICES GONE CRAZY!

Recommended Posts

Dragonstone-

Perhaps the most beautiful gem in all of Runescape. That deep purple sunken into a ring of wealth or into a nice gold peice strung with wool of a sheep. I hit the crafting lvl and enchanting lvl for dragonstone a while ago, and started to invest in them, at the time dragonstones (stone only0 were selling 100k, as most people sell now. The crystal key halfs sold at 35k each, as they do now, but the whole key sells 100k... Now, note that those of us that make the dragonstone rings, or others beside me ammys, have to get a gold bar, the stone, the runes, and smelt them (wool for ammys).

Now you would think that dragonstone jewlery being 100k for the stone, or 35k each key half, would increse the value of an enchanted ring, needing lvl 68 magic to enchant it. and the crafting lvl to cut the stone, and make it inot a ring or ammy, but rather than the price increseing like nature should intend, I see the prices of the actual rings or ammys, drop! People can go out on the streets now a days and buy a ring of wealth for 50k or cheaper! Glory ammys are about 65k! This is crazy. I take the time out to make this ring, enchant it, craft it..etc.. and the value goes from around 100k to 50??? This is not right. if anyhting the ring should cost 125k! or more! Then when you try to sell at 100k, the lower lvls try to buy for 50, you tell them 100k, but they say its only worth 50k. You tell them you took the time to make it, the price is 100k, they tell you, "you got the exp from it"..... pppffffttttt, maybe 100exp, its very little sad to say.

All I can say is, for every dragonstone crafter out there, dont settle and sell 50k for a ring, or 65k for a glory, we made em, got the stone for the full price, sell it that way. and for those of you buying them, maybe now you are educated, and will pay dues to those of use who make your rings of wealth and glory ammys, PAY THE FULL!

First off, I'll start by saying that I'm 84 crafting (halfway to 85)

Here's what the issue is. Every day, I would say --at least-- 1k half keys come into the game -- maybe 65% of these are loops, 35% teeth. This is besides my point.

The issue is... "high level" crafters (80 and above imho) make those dstones into glories every day. I myself charge 10k per dstone for a fully charged glory. (I trade a glory charged for a dstone and 10k) This is a "bargain" for someone without 80 crafting, and for me, a useful way to offset the cost of leveling an otherwise expensive skill. Personally, crafting is one of the skills I'm the most proud of (as I've been leveling it since last July)

Now to your post. You've basically issued a complaint against the forces of business. Yes. I AGREE WITH YOU. However, I understand, as many smithers already have experienced years ago, that as more people level up a skill, the less profitable it will be. (Mostly if the product you're creating, be it a glory ammy or a rune body.)

Also, you seem to be complaining about ring of wealth prices. Here's my tip. Do the work. Level up to 80, there is still some money to be made by buying dstones (and both half keys) for 60-65k, then selling for 75-90k in the form of a charged glory. Your price of 65k for a glory is honestly one of the lowest I've seen in awhile. I can almost guarantee crafters don't sell for that cheap -- pkers do.

Which leads me to my final point. The people who work hard to create something versus someone who comes into it easily (but does not connect the effort involved), are likely to sell it for considerably higher than the other person. The crafter/smither vs pker dynamic is the best example of this. If you can't understand what I'm getting at, then clearly you're going to never truly understand the forces of the market in business.

interesting post. Is this really a discussion or more of a rant about the RS economy? Anyhow, in repsonse, I agree with the above poster. 65k is very low for a glory. I think I have a bargain when I buy one for 85k. I think that 85-90k is about the going price now, although I have spent 100k on several occasions on glories.

I understand your point, last night when I wrote this, I was frustrated with the way I couldent sell a ring of wealth for 50k, everyone said "NO WAY, those are only 10k!", that to me is crazy, I paid 65k for the keys, got the gold, got the runes, and enchanted it, and it lowers price, not fair, im not trying to change enconomy, im just wondering why everyone thinks that it should be so low priced, if they are ganna seel at that, the key halfs and actuall stone should be sold less as well, shouldent it?

Cream, I know we've pm-ed since your post, but just for the tip.it community's benefit, I'd like to say that I agree with you on your frustration on the ring of wealth prices... You might find reading the latest tip.it times article on "greedy" players... which as my name may belie, I have a -few- issues with (lol!), but I do understand the general thrust of the point. Basically it is this: I work hard to enjoy this game and as much passion (and time) as I devote to this game, I will apply an equal (or more) amount of effort in detesting those who want the easy way to success and who try to cheat their way to the top.

I appreciate (read: understand) mediocrity, but a perfunctory effort will never reach a level of greatness that is truly appreciated in this game.

happy rsing to all -- and especially to cream -- good luck on the lvl 66 crafting... it's a slow endeavor, good luck again.
