I got an application form for it today in the mail and was wondering what it was all about.... really, my big question is how much political knowledge should you have or if it's something you learn there :P >.>

Seems to be a week long leadership camp where you're put in the position of a mayor or something, I'm not exactly sure...

I went to the Illinois Boy's State two summers ago. Basically, wherever you go (a college in my case) you are considered a state. In that state you are seperated into counties (different dorms). In these counties there are cities (different floors of the dorms). You live with people you've never met before and you run for city official positions such as mayor, from there you can run for county positions, and if you're good enough you can run for the state positions. It's a lot of building friendships and learning how to take charge. (Just so you know if you win govenor of the state, you get to go speak at the Girl's State, so use that as an incentive to kick some [wagon]). But yeah, basically they put you with new people, and you make lots of friends and learn how the goverment runs through getting your own experience with it, while getting a little leadership training. It's a great experience and I highly recomend going, you'll make lots of friends and learn a lot of new things.
