Sailors & warriors

Seaman George had a terrible dillema. The tidal wave that had washed through Port Sarim only a day before had dameged his ship. So he called all his sailors. "Men!" he told them, "You are to plug up all the holes, and clean up the water, and dry out the sails! For then we can begin sailing again." And the men did their job well.

So there George was, sitting by the ship, a month after the wave, when a figure, no, two figures, came across the horizon. It was a male & a female, and they were both dressed in blood red armor. They both had blood red swords.

"Hi!" the male said. "My name is Christian. This is my girlfriend Megan. We need to get to Karjama. Is there a ship here that wasn't put out completedly by the wave?"

"Yes, my ship is. I'm still only going to charge you 30 gold coins." Christian gave him the coins. The couple and the crew set sail. They were about to go beyond the veiw of anyone in Port Sarim when it hit. A massive storm. The rains fell, and the ship rocked, but Christian and Megan were not scared. The storm ended, and George told the cabin boy to get the sextant. They needed to find out where they were. The boy came back, empty-handed. George ordered a complete search of the ship. Nothing.

"It must have washed away in the wave!" Megan looked worried.

"what'll we do?!" she asked.

"There really isn't very much we can do. Do you see land anywhere?"

"No!" Megan said, even more scared than before. Christian came out. He hugged Megan, to comfort her. It didn't help much.

"Hey! Guys! Everybody!! Over here! I see land! Really!" a sailor yelled. George sprinted over to the wheel. He steered the ship toward the sillouette in the distance. As they got closer, they found only rocks, and mountains. Desperately, they tried to slow the ship, before it hit the shore, but the hot, dry wind was too strong, and the ship ran aground, only a stone's throw away from the land. They all climbed out of the wreckage, carefully.

"Is there anybody here?" Megan asked, already knowing the answer. Then she looked, she saw smoke on the horizon. That must mean somebody was there, some civilization. Judging by the position of the moon, the smoke was to the south. Megan looked at the mountains. It was going to be a hard journey. She beckoned for Christian to come out.

"I see it!" he said enthusiastically. "C'mon George! bring your men! we're going." They all hiked throught the mountains, for almost a week, eating the remains of rats that populated the area. They came to a spot where the land seemed to turn downward. They could see the smoke even more, it had been there the whole time. They carefully climbed down. As they finally got to the bottom, they looked around. They saw dead trees, and charred ground. The sight scared the sailors.

"I don't even want to know what did this," George said. He ordered his sailors to come back to the wreck. at least they would know where they were. Christian and Megan weren't so easily scared. They put on their armor, and set off, always nearing the source of the smoke. The finally found the spot. There lay a corpse, it's legs completely burned away. The top would be too, if not for the rune armor, now charred black instead of the beautiful bright blue. Megan shuddered. Christian sat down. Suddenly they heard a scream, from far away. They could barely make out the words, but it sounded something like this.

"oh my god! --------the mouth---------dra-------aaaaaaaaaaaa!-------it burns!!!------Chris-------Megan!--------------eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!-----cough-cough-hack."

"w-what's going on? Where are we?!" Christian asked, very scared.

"I guess the wilderness." Megan answered, confident. They'd been there before. They knew that all that they had to do was to go south, and they'd be back home. But maybe it wasn't so easy. The weren't prepared for a trip to the wild. They had no food. They were simply going to Karjama to fish up some lobsters. They had their armor & weapons, which were important, but still, maybe no enough. But it didn't matter. They knew that the dragon that had just killed their friends was probably headed toward them. They had to move fast. They started heading south, when they heard a yell of fear, then a roar. They heard what sounded like a drawn-out explosion, and they knew that it was the dragon. It had finally caught up with them. THey did the only thing they could. The two readied their swords and waited for the Dragon. It came over the horizon. They were ready.

It came at them, all three black heads bearing down on them, their mouths open wide. Luckily, both of them had anti-dragon sheilds that they bought from some passers-by on the way to port. They had none, and were getting the lobsters to use on their trip to slay a dragon. But now it looked as if they were doomed to fight it with no food. The sheilds strained against the force of the flame. The terrible dragon stopped for one second to catch it's breath. Christian uttered a prayer, and charged the dragon, stabbling the sword into it's flesh. The head on the far left winced in pain. It bore down on him, about to bite. He raised his sheild, as Megan came to the rescue by stabbing the head before it bit. The first head was hanging low, blood dripping form it's wounds. The other two heads blew fire once more, and the couple barely raised their sheilds in time. But along with the fire came poison. Megan coughed. She wanted to run, but she could never leave Christian behind. She charged the dragon, even as the poison weakened her from inside. Christian dove over to her side, as she sliced her sword through the dragon's belly. Both remaining heads howled in pain. The two front legs lifted up off of the ground. Christian tackled Megan, pushing her out of the way, but he himself was hit. The claws made bright sparks against his armor, and they cut through along his back. He was thrown far behind the dragon. He got up, bleeding, but stil able to fight. As the dragon's middle head reared up, ready to blow, he took a galnce at Megan. She was watching him, not the dragon. He did the only thing he could. He jumped onto the dragon's back, stabbing his sword with all his might into the back of the neck. The middle head reared back, but Christian held tight to his sword, which didn't budge from its hole, deep in the back of the beast's neck. Then he saw and felt it. He heard bone snap, and the head went limp. There was still one more, and the dove onto it, barely missing the horns. Megan looked up in horror, seeing Christian being thrown like a rag doll off of the dragon's head. He flew straight into a tree. She looked over to see him climb out, protected by the weak, dead wood by his armor. He dropped out, just as the dragon reared up on it's hind legs, diving down atop Megan. As it fell, she did all she could. She held her sword up high in the air, and as the dragon collapsed on top of her, she shoved it into his flesh, causing as much damage as possible. It worked. The dragon lifted back up off her, rolling onto it's back in pain. Megan got up, caught her breath, which had been completely knocked out of her. She then helped Christian as he leaped on the beast's belly, dragging his sword behind him. She jumped on as well, swing wildly into the flesh, and as the beast coughed it's last breath, and rolled onto it's side to die, she jumped off and ran over to Christian, embracing him. The two picked up the large amount of money the dragon had probably gained from it's previous victims, and walked further south.

They went through a gate, ran quickly past the demons, and continued hiking, when they reached an area of small hills, full of rats, and they continued into the great city of Varrok. They took off their armor and cheered, then spent a great deal of the dragon's money on food, and had a great feast, before talking to Father Lawrence and arranging a small memorial service for George and his men.

And when the new warriors in Lumbridge ask for a good story, they tell them. And sometimes, when a brave warrior ventures into the far northern wilderness, he cas still hear the screams of the crew, and the cries of the dragon as it bore down on the two adventurers. And when ships get lost at sea, they claim to see a smokey sillouette of Geogre's ship, and an outline of a dragon behind it.

thanks. The only regret I have is the title. Because after I posted it, I realized that the beginning was about sailor, but the best part was about warriors, and the sailors, whose tale it is, are dead.
