Firemaking Suggestions and Ideas (repost)

Here are some ideas to add to firemaking for a bit of variety Smile At lvl 40 firemaking you can build a bonfire. You would build a bonfire by using logs with fire, repeat. You can only use logs with fire once, at lvl 50 you can do it twice. This would look kind of cool, the fire would last longer, and it would be a slightly faster way to get exp. This would make cooking exp. go up by 1 point extra for everything you cooked. If you wanted, you could also chuck things on the fire that you didn't want anymore, as long as they were some-what burnable.

At lvl 80 firemaking, you could use tinderbox with dead tree or fallen tree. You character would go around (animation would take awhile) and light the tree on all of its sides. When you light a dead tree, it will give you the exp. of 20 logs, and when you light a fallen tree, it will give you the exp. of 40 logs. (since fallen trees are harder to find)

At lvl 90 firemaking, you can light normal and evergreen trees (not yews, willow, etc.) on fire. This would give you the exp. of 8 normal logs. You can not cook food on these fiery trees. (when trees are done burning, they drop 5 piles of ash, this applies to all burnt trees)

At lvl 99 firemaking, you can burn hollow trees if you have a torch (see below). This results in the exp. of 10 oak logs and gives you 5-8 ashes.

As a random event a lesser (or perhaps a "Fire Elemental?) would be summoned next to you when are firemaking. This lesser would not attack you unless you attacked it first. The lesser would have to the option to "talk" to it. When you talked to it, it would give you either magic logs (9-28+) or a torch (see below).

A torch would be a non-tradeable item that you could only get by a random event, or by using a 5 planks with a knife. This would give you an 'unlit torch', you would then have to get wheat and use it with 'unlit torch', creating 'dry torch'. Using 'dry torch' with a burning tree of any kind would result in a 'torch'. The torch would allow you to light a fire faster than normal (the animation time would be cut in half) and it would give you 1/2 or 1 more exp. per log lit. To keep the torch Burning, you would have to use certain types of alchohol with it. The alchohol scale would go like this:

Beer burns for one minute (three minutes if used with the distiller in the "regecide quest"); Karajma rum would burn for a minute and a half; Keg of beer would burn for 2 minutes. (Keg of beer would be a members-only)

Well, any constructive criticism or compliments would be appreciated Smile My brother (eaf-spencer) and I (eliisgood) came up with this idea, and it has been edited by the member's of this forum Smile

EDIT: all of the newest things are in bold.

Another new idea by the people who have posted on this topic: flaming weapons!

Well, I just compiled this from all of the suggestions that I have heard, if you think it could be better, please suggest something better or new instead of just criticizing the idea Wink

How flaming weapons would work:

_____________________________

|Logs|woodcutting level|weapon|level to burn|

|____________________________|

|normal|1 |Bronze |15 |

| |1 |Iron |20 |

|oak |15 |steel |25 |

| |15 |black |30 |

|willow |30 |mithril |45 |

|maple |45 |adanamite |60 |

|yew |60 |rune |75 |

|magic |75 |dragon |99 |

You can "burn" weopans with the logs shown above or better.

(e.g. with maple logs you can burn anything except rune and dragon)

The weapons are indicated like (p), burnt: (e.g.Mithril longsword (B)).

Like Runecrafting, the higher your level the more efficient the burn,

the burn wears off after a certain number of hits. This would make it so that merchants could still sell "flaming" weapons without them going out over the period of a day or so. Burn damage would work much like poison; when you damage a monster, there is a %50 chance that the monster will become burned. Burning lasts for 6 seconds, and hits 1-5 damage every two seconds (depending on firemaking and attack level?).
