There's a basic trick that good Herblorists use. They just have a bag full of unids above Ranarr (of which they already know which herb is which, even though they're unid) and they fill the rest of the bag with essence or other random junk. When they trade you if there's any unids that aren't above Ran then they won't have space in their bag, and they'll know its a scam. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
