pokemama Posted May 18, 2006 Share Posted May 18, 2006 The reason you find most people avoiding building defense is because it really affects your combat level, as I'm sure you know. I suggest trying Tip.It's Combat calculator to experiment with differents skill levels and see how they affect overall level. A friend built a range "pure" but went for 40 def in order to wear the d'hide chests. He regretted it. Most of the time his boosted combat level got him involved with people stronger than him. A small percentage of the time, his defense threw off his attackers and he was able to conquer them. But it wasn't often enough to justify the time he'd spent building up skills. He finally abandoned the character (final skills: 74 range, 60 hp, 47 magic, 40 def) to build a "real" pure with no defense. Just my two cents. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
