I have heard this before, most people say that it can be done. I myself have not tried it but like I said I am fairly certain you can.

First just try carrying the axe parts with you onto Entrana before doing the quest. (Don't fix the axe till you're ready for the quest) If you can travel without being turned away then you won't have a problem. (Otherwise just kill a zombie for an axe once you enter the dungeon.)

From personal experience, I know you can take arrows anytime, an if I want to range unicorns or lessers I'll just take a bowstring, a log and a knife and make a bow once I'm there.

For the quest, depending on your combat lvl and crafting lvl's... I would recommend taking two sets of metal studds and 2 or 3 pieces of soft leather, needle and thread onto the island too make coif and studded leather. It's just another added lvl of protection.

One last thing, I believe magic (fire spells) are recommended to kill the 'tree spirit,' so just run behind the rocks/log. (It's an easy kill from the safe spot.)

Good Hunting! Ciao
