Coal and iron ore look extremely similar. If the colors for coal were inverted, I think it would help a lot, and people wouldn't get scammed as easily.

i bet 95% of the scams happen due to the fact that the item is sooo good and they are just excited, or they are in a hurry.

 

 

 

I think that coal and iron is a minor scam....

 

My friend accidentally bought a rope for 10 mill (thought it was a whip), whips had just come out. She was devastated :cry:

 

 

 

 

 

I almost traded full veracs for guthans armor and a leaf-bladed spear lol.......i right clicked the leaf-bladed spear, didnt get scamed :P

I remember falling for the scam once myself right after i started merchanting. They do look slightly similar in note form but after awhile they are unmistakably different. Not a bad point though :D

I can tell the difference in iron and coal extreamly easily. I mine coal all the time. Maybe if your afraid of getting scammed, you should go keep 1 iron in your inventory when trading coal. Then you can check it out.
