i'm stuck and desperate

well the clue says:in a town where the guards are armed with maces search upstairs rooms of the public house.well tipit says i should search drawers upstairs in jerico's house,south of the northern bank,and that a message should pop up,i have clue in inventory,but i search,and it just says they are close,no message :? it also says that i should kill guards in the guide,killin em for 10 mins no key yet..help me plz? :)
