well i went to the guy for a servant and he told me i needed 2 bedrooms. i went i built a bedroom and what does he say? the same thing! he says i need 2 bedrooms! i have 2! is this a glitch or did i do something wrong?

You need to have built 2 beds in those rooms.

Yup, you not only need two bedrooms, but also beds in both before you can hire a servant. :)
