Account PINs

I think it'd be a good idea to have a login PIN. It could be set via the Runescape website. A form such as the form for recovering a locked account would have to be filled out and approved to set or change your account PIN. As opposed to having it set in-game where at the early stages of release an account stealer could set a PIN on a stolen account and gain full control of the account.

 

 

 

Only players that provide enough information via the website will be able to set an account PIN. This would also encourage players to keep track / write down their account details in case future problems arise. This would make Jagex's job a lot easier when it comes to approving locked account appeals, etc since players would know and be able to submit their full and correct account details.

 

 

 

This update could stop a lot of problems and hackings. A player that has an account PIN and bank PIN set would have a very secure account. Possibly hackproof.

 

 

 

A lot of players tend to leave their rares and good items in their inventory when they log out for the day, not expecting to be hacked. But it happens. The account PIN would prevent players from losing their valuables in their inventory, etc to hackers. Also, hackers tend to attempt to get the account banned by advertising websites, breaking the rules, etc. With the account PIN this wouldn't be possible. Jagex would clearly see that you were in control of your account at the time of the offence unless someone had guessed your account PIN which most of the time doesn't happen unless you have a very simple PIN. This would make Jagex's job in the appeal department a lot easier as well.

 

 

 

I know a lot of you don't like bank PINs as it is since they take a whole 10 seconds to enter. :roll: But just think about your account being virtually hackproof for less than 20 seconds of entering digits. It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Especially now that the RTA or whatever they call themselves is back.

this is a good idea! would make your account VERY secure

 

 

 

and personally i dont mind entering my bank pin, i myself got hacked but all of my valuables where in the bank so they were safe.

No, this wouldn't be a password, it's a seperate precaution. Unfortunatly I disaggree on one point, like the idea of having to click the numbers instead of typing them in, that way keyboard hackers can't read it. That's why bank PINS are clicking numbers.
