Need some help with adding backgrounds to renders

ive been exploring sig making and i made my first sig a pretty crappy one last night

 

 

 

i had some trouble adding a background heres an e.p. of what happened

Well it's not a background... The render is below the supposed-to-be-background.

i think that's what he is trying to figure out....O.o

 

 

 

that is what im trying to figure out how do i make it so the background and the render dont merge together like this

Put the render on the layer above the background.
