Kelvin MacKenzie

Some of you may remember Kelvin MacKenzie as being the Editor of The Sun newspaper from 1981 to 1993; infamously remember for the controversy over the Hillsborough Disaster. For those who don't remember him, I'm sure you'll have seen this:

His heading describing how the British Navy sunk the General Belgrano which he was criticised for the title.

No longer the Editor of The Sun but now he is merely a columnist. However, never one to hold back his opinions, MacKenzie has been the center of yet more controversey. In the English edition of The Sun, MacKenzie - among others - has repeatedly slandered Scotland. One of his comments include building Hadrian's Wall higher and he was known to celebrate the fact that on average Scots die younger. As MacKenzie is now facing yet more criticism, as is The Sun for waging an Anti-Scot Compaign.

This comes as the BBC were criticised for having draped a car in the English flag and leaving it in Glasgow' Gallowgate, only to be trashed by 'racist' thugs.

All this isin't helping the current quarrel raging at the moment over whether Scottish MPs should be allowed to vote in English matters. After being painted as a racist country by the idiot mentioned above and by the BBC, one can only wonder how long this will continue, before escalating into something else.

It's just the media trying to make a story and trying to wind things up.

They are trying to make out that everyone in Scotland who doesn't support England football team is a racist.

And people wonder why Scottish poeple don't want to support England. It's the media that are making it worse.

Yes we have our fair share of yobs and hooligans up here who in no way represent the average Scot. I'm sure they wouldn't like us to think every Englishman is exactly like the football hooligans we saw in Germany recently.

Really I would like to hear and English person's view on this. Just to see what they really think. We are subjected to the English media but we don't get to hear what normal people think.

I don't believe what I read in tabloids like the Sun. Whatever they write is often a twisted version of the truth that will put someone in a bad light. I don't think that the Scots who burnt the car were racist thugs, just thugs. And if the Sun is really slagging off Scotland (I don't read it), then they should be taken to court.

Scottish people not supporting England is fine too. It isn't their country so why should they care? It would be nice to support each other as we are neighbours but it isn't really required.

From my experience, the Scottish people arn't very different from the English. And the way that MacKenzie treats them is disgusting. People like that shouldn't be allowed to work in journalism.

I thought what the BBC did was appalling. If a car had the Scotland flag painted on it and was left in an area like East London then I'm certain that it would be smashed or stolen. There were questions raised as to whether the journalists involved had told the group of teenagers to smash the car.

Quite peculiar how the same journalist had walked into Glasgow bars and clubs wearing an English football shirt and was met with only some jokes about the England team, but wasn't verbally abused in any way. Oddly, no-one reported the incident of the car being trashed to the police. I wonder why.

David Beckham even said that he understood why the Scottish First Minister did not support England and praised him for being honest.

Tony Blair criticised the First Minister for not support England, but when Blair was asked would he support Scotland if they in England's position, he said he wouldn't.

Certain journalists are fueling the flames and seeming to do so without any punishment.

I wouldn't worry about it. No-one takes The Sun seriously anyway. He's preaching to himself and his ego.

I wouldn't even use that paper to piss on, as it were. Scum.

Thing is it's not just the sun. Although they are probably the worst.
