smithing and smelting

whats the differance between smithing and smelting im confused!!

well smelting is to make from ore to bars and smithing is to make weapons from bars to weapons 8-)

same skill different meanings...

 

 

 

smelting- this is the act of making a bar out of ore (eg. using iron ore with a furnace and getting an iron bar is smelting the bar)

 

 

 

smithing- this is the act of using the bar(s) with an anvil and creating a new item (warhammer, plate mail, axe)

 

 

 

both give smithing exp, simply are two parts to one skill

smelting is making the bars.

 

example: take 1 iron and 2 coal to make steel bar

 

 

 

smithing is using the bar to make armour/weapons (pretty much self explanatory so i dont think i need an example)
