September 8, 200619 yr All barrows weapons, including veracs flail, are 2-handed, so no, you can't wield a shield. Af for which one is better, I can't really help you there, except tell you that the hammers have a large crush att, and nothing else, while the flail has a slightly smaller crush attack in addition to a decent stab bonus.
