Windows Media Player help required.

Featured Replies

Ok, whenever i attempt to watch movies on WMP, i get the following message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

What kind of file are you trying to play? .wmv? .mpeg? .avi?

It's pretty simple really, just download the codec according to the file extension of the movie you want to play. You can probably google it and get results.

You might want the VLC media player. It doesn't require any codecs to work and plays anything in great quality. I watched my Shawshank DVD on it the other day and it worked a treat.

Thanks, and im attempting to play an avi. file.

.mpeg files are what i usually use, and i have absolutely no problems with them.

I'll try finding a codec for the file.

Also, regarding the VLC player, I would like to know whether it requires an extra downloads, such as codecs, etc.

Thanks for the help.
