Take this for example

E--------------------------------|-------------------------------|

B--------------------------------|-------------------------------|

G----4-----4-----4---4-----4-----|---4-----4-----4---4-----4-----|

D----4-----4-----4---4-----4-----|---4-----4-----4---4-----4-----|

A--2---2-------2-------2-------2-|-2---2-------2-------2-------2-|

E--------------------------------|-------------------------------|

Would i play a - 2nd fret, then g and f - 4th fret. Or

Would i go a 2 2nd fret, then g - 4 then d - 4.

Im trying to teach myself how to play a little guitar :boohoo:

Just visualize the tabs as the fretboard of your guitar. The line on top of the tab is the string with the highest sound. The line on the bottom is therefor the string closest to you. And then the numbers are the frets you are supposed to play. That's tab reading in a nutshell. Not too difficult, eh?
