Need help with Battle.net (Warcraft 3)

Hi, I just bought the Warcraft III Battlechest (warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne Expansion both in a single package!). I didn't know where else to turn so I decided to come and ask about it here. And the game works fine. However, it does not let me connect to battle.net.

When i click on battle.net, it says:

"initializing connection to battle.net"

then

"Unable to connect to battle.net

You may be trying to connect to an invalid Battle.net server. If you are using a modem, you may need to manually connect to the internet before connecting to Battle.net"

The thing is... I don't use a modem. I use a Wireless-G USB network adapter. Sooo I guess it's a router or something..

Thank you in advance.

Check to see if your firewall is allowing it. I had this problem for a while. My firewall was blocking WC3 from accessing the internet. Just go into whatever firewall/anti-virus program you are using and tell it to allow WC3 (aka add it to the allow list)

have you installed the latest updates for the game?

The server address may have been changed and the old version may not be set up to connect to it ....

Just a guess , as I have zero experience with Blizzard.

I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theaters

When you try and go to the Multiplayer thing its suspost to connect to there server and then update. I never tried going back and getting the other updates off the blizzard site maybe u should try that.

Make sure your ports are open. Thats a big issue with Blizzard games, especially starcraft and what not since they were made when everyone used 56k, they never had to worry about that. If you already have the ports opened on your router I wouldn't know. If you contact blizzard support they are usually pretty good about handling problems... at least simple stuff like network issues.
