d3nic
Hello guys. Well, I currently play RuneScape on a 64MB on board graphics card. My other computer specs are : Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0GHz 2GIG Ram --------------------------------------- I posted a thread on here a while ago asking if RuneScape actully used a graphics card. Most of the responses I got where "No." Ok, I used to play RuneScape on a Nvidia 6800 graphics card and it played RuneScape fine on high detail. Now I play with my on board graphics, I can no longer play on high detail, as it gets jerky and it's not smooth at all. But on low detail, it runs fine and it is perfectly smooth. So, RuneScape does need a graphics card in order to play well on high detail? Maybe it's the actual Java applet that needs the graphics card. I'm going to get a new graphics card soon, so I can play on high detail. I know there isn't much difference between high and low detail, but I always like the best lol. So please discuss. Is my view correct? Thanks for reading. - Denic.
Stuart_G
The difference in graphics quality between high and low detail is non-existant. Its the extra little details that you get on high detail which put that extra bit of load on the CPU which then results in the lag. As for the difference between your onboard chip and the 6800. The problem with onboard cards is that they share resources like RAM and bandwidth which is putting more stress on other parts which results in the lag. With a stand alone video card you have no stress on other parts because they are operating on its own processor and RAM, which in turn lets other parts do their jobs to their full potential. superdumb6
See I think that the posters on you other one(I remember posting :P ) don't exactly have the computer smarts. Everything on the monitor takes a graphics card. Me typing this out is actually using the graphics card. The monitor is connected to the graphics card. But yes, just get a nice graphics card and it will run fine. Thank you everybody for rising up against macroing!!!
zonda
Don't bump old topics - and no your graphics card won't effect RS. Yes, your display is effected by your graphics card, but a pair of $3000 SLI cards won't make RS perform any better then a VGA onboard card. For those of you who have played qbasic games or the like, it's similar to that... your graphics card doesn't mean jack accept in terms of of color (12 bit, 16 bit, 32bit) ... LinovUSA
I got a 256mb DDR video card from Radeon and I almost never use high-details, because there is no need to.
