in the construction guides it mentions wood shelves 1, 2, and 2 teak 1, 2 does this mean the number of shelves?? or is there a way to upgrade levels???

You always have the same number of shelves, its just a way to state that its the same material but different lvl. Higher lvls hold more stuff.
