Wireless USB

Featured Replies

I want to get a wireless USB to connect to my router... but I know next to nothing about them.

So shoot - Do they work as well as a wireless card? Do they have good range? Do you recommend any particular brands? Do they cost more or less then a wireless card?

The router I would be connecting to is a linksys wireless ###wrt G ... or something. Will I have to get something specifically for that? Anyway, thanks again.

Ah what fun i had only a few weeks ago trying to get mine to connect to my new wireless hub :wall:

No as long as it operates to the same standard as your router you already have. it should say something like 802.11g or something on it if it says that then buy an adapter that is compatable with that.

Im not sure on which works better but id geuss that they are just as good, if your not hot on the insides of computers i wouldnt go poking arround unless you know what your doing. On the cost i would say look arround, look at prices and go for the something thats resonably prices, my adapter is a piece of junk and works fine.

I'll tell you what i do, i've got a desktop upstairs hardwired to my wireless router and i've just plugged a usb removable disk into that, then on my wireless network i've got my desktop connected. A simple shortcut works fine.

I personally recommend if you want the maximum boost out of that Linksys router that you buy a Wireless USB Unit that is recommended on the outside of the box for the router. Using a router with the matching recommended devices always works best.

Uhm, could you please be more descriptive of what kind of device you're using to connect? I just read this, and it makes no sense to me. :?
