The legend of the Cathengers

Featured Replies

Another day, another tuna. Wise words from his father, the words that many generations of Cathengers had lived by. The Cathenger family, from the first town records, have lived in the sea-side paradise of Catherby. They are fishing Gods, masters of the sea much like the ancient trawlers. In fact, it is rumored that a Gradfather-Son-Grandson team of Cathengers, only 3 strong, set the highest record in the famed trawler ever. They were truly masters of everything that swims.

A Cathenger was the first to use a harpoon on something bigger than a tuna. A Cathenger was the first to find, hunt down, and catch a school of Sea turtles. A Cathenger was the first to harpoon a mighty Manta Ray, and A Cathenger was the first to win the fishing guild contest, beating someone using red vine worms.

Out of the first 20 Fishing guild members, 5 of them were Cathengers. All 20 could have been, but death and bad fish had killed others. There has never been a better family bloodline for fishing.

In fact, the Cathengers continue to set records. First stuffed Swordfish? A Cathenger. That Sailfish in the home of the mayor of Witchaven, the only one seen in the land of Runescape? Pulled out of the ocean by a Cathenger. The Fishing colonies first non-villager to catch a monkfish? A Cathenger. The records keep mounting.

The Cathengers are rich, powerfull, and up to their necks in raw fish. They are still cooking what they have fished. Fish caught by the now dead great-grandfather of the youngest current Cathenger is still being cooked. And the Cathengers have developed a way to keep fish good, even after their fisher dies. How they do this is still unknown, it is one of Runescapes well hidden secrets.

But the Cathengers, as famous as they may seem, are not widly known. They keep to themselves, and do not gloat of their victorys. They buy funiture from the greatest homebuilders, any tip well, but do not trade in person, sending flat-packed items and money back and forth. The Cathengers fish quietly, hidden in the crowd, not saying 99 when people ask for fishing levels.

They keep to themselves, the Cathengers. They are happy with their progress. Even so, they now branch out. They realize that, with their wealth, they could imbark in new skills, buying seeds and paying farmers to watch their crops.

But anyone who looks at the Hiscores will not see the Cathenger family. The reason is not known. It is though that the Cathengers asked Jagex for this, so they would not be attacked by beggers.

But this is not true. They did not do this to avoid beggers, no. They did this on the dieing wish of the first Cathenger.

And as I die here, I make one last statement. I wish that my decendents do not allow their names to be placed in the hiscores, and the family shall remain humble, and not become thick-headed.

And now, the tale ends. The story of the Cathengers, who's story goes hand in hand with fishing itself. It is said that the day the first fishermen taught the lands of fishing, the first Cathenger was there, learning. He promised he would become as good as the them.

He was the first to Harpoon a tuna.

Another day, another tuna indeed.

Loved the ending :) , will you continue?

It was a bit odd how you switched the mood suddenly by mentioning certain things like 'jagex' and 'highscores'. :?

I did this to show that the family would not become a bragging group of high levels, showing off their wealth a power.

And I don't know If i'll continue this, but you can read my other story, "He had lost his ways..."
