older windows on new comp

welll im thinking of purchasing a new laptop

 

 

 

the one i was looking at

see this system come with media center edition windows.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

what i was thinking is that i would be using this for some gaming and school work.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

windows 2k service pack 4 seems to the be quite good on my pc and does better at gaming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

would it effect the laptop in anyway by running 2ksp4

 

 

 

any battery life issues?

XP MCE will come preinstalled with all the needed drivers for the hardware included in the laptop. Downgrading to Win 2k means you could lose some hardware support (not sure what, but it's a possibility) and you shorten the life span of any security updates Microsoft will be sending out. It could also void any support you'd have from the manufacturer by using an OS they don't support.

you will probably lose sme hardware support and it wont be as secure and updates wont be as readily available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

it will probably viod any warantee (sp?) on the computer as well.
