welll im thinking of purchasing a new laptop

the one i was looking at

had

AMD Turion̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50 running at 1.6ghz each

2gb ddr2 sdram at 533mhz 2 dimm

120gb SATA hardrive at 5400rpm

ATI RADEON̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâî Xpress1150 with 256MB HyperMemory̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ

dual layer dvd burner

see this system come with media center edition windows.

what i was thinking is that i would be using this for some gaming and school work.

windows 2k service pack 4 seems to the be quite good on my pc and does better at gaming.

would it effect the laptop in anyway by running 2ksp4

any battery life issues?

XP MCE will come preinstalled with all the needed drivers for the hardware included in the laptop. Downgrading to Win 2k means you could lose some hardware support (not sure what, but it's a possibility) and you shorten the life span of any security updates Microsoft will be sending out. It could also void any support you'd have from the manufacturer by using an OS they don't support.
