Why are the experiments so good for combat training? They are far apart, and very crowded. What am I missing? (I know they have high hp and hit low, but with full rune/some dragon items everything hits low) Also they drop nothing.

I know it's F2P, but the best spot is the mining guild. Every other mining site is too far from bank or barely has coal. If you don't mind a distance from a bank, then there is the coal trucks west of Seers.

Well Shadow Warriors under Legends have decent stats and are never crowded, you are fighting constantly with almost no running, and you get runes and sometimes dragon.

You can put 150 coal in the truck. When its full tele back to camalot and go get it out of the shed thats north west of the bank (really its a 5 sec walk) Its pretty good at coal trucks
