February 2, 200719 yr Man of God They once said, in empty halls, On cold stone flags, as the incense swung, And bare feet beat the dirt-silk road, To avarice and dreams beyond, That here, in this dead house, we meet Beneath the bishop̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s dirty feet, And buy our meaning by golden sweat. Once we stood beneath the altar, As Issac̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s blood poured through the grooves, And stared up at the flaming hooves, His breathy words in frozen air, To tell us of our reasons there. And the silver plate went round the room Every man to give his due For the righteous counsel of His High Priest Their eternity worth the least Beneath that man̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s un-sandaled soles The plate was passed, the pile grows. Still I see them, those who seek That solace of their priest̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s bare feet, That pound the muddy silk in tow To see the flames lick from below And buy their passage with golden tread The man of God̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s most savored thread. I had thought I would never post another poem on here again. But I will experiment with this one, as I know the topic is contraversial.
