whats a good place to get ok drops and training that would cover the loss of barrows (degrading)

I assume you're talking about the degrading of barrows armor. Almost any training spot will give you enough herbs to cover. For melee, I'd try moss giants maybe (lvl 42, so they are no longer aggressive).
