HELP! I think my friend's account isn't safe anymore...

Featured Replies

Ok, hello. I wonna know if my friends account (friend=simon) is safe, or it could get in the hands of hackers, and cleaned all out.

So, a few days ago simon came happy to me yelling that he was P2P, and he managed to get it for free. I asked him, but how Simon? He said a friend from the chat he knew, gave him this combination of numbers. He said he must go to subscribe to members, as country he must click united kingdom (we live in Belgium) and click ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâpay by sms̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢. On that page he must enter the code. And so it came, he̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s p2p.

Now, I was wondering if he̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s friend from the chat can have acces to he̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s account. (with the code he gave to subscribe to members). Simon said it was only one code, five or six numbers.

I hope some people have expierince with this, and can give a true answer. I just don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t to loose Simon on rs, he put a lot of effort in his account, and coulnd̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢nt get members because of he̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s parents. So please help.

no i highly doubt he cant

I don't honestly have experience with this, but as far as Runescape rules go, I'll tell you what I know.

From what your telling us is that someone outside your friends immediate family is paying for his membership, which is against the rules. As far as I know these people may be able to get his password because they'll be able to ask JAGeX to change the password, because they might have enough information to "prove" it is their account.

My advice would be to tell your friend to CANCEL the membership ASAP, change his password, account details etc, and just pray that nothing bad happens, this isn't a good situation at all to get caught up in.

Especially if this credit card number is a fraud, Jagex will find out very fast, and if worse comes to worse he might get into some trouble with more then just JAGeX, credit card companies and the law do not take lightly to this kind of act.

Can I pay for someone else?

You can only do this if the person you are paying for is a member of your immediate family. This is necessary to help us detect fraud. Ignoring this warning could result in any associated accounts being banned.

If you wish to purchase membership for someone outside of your family, we recommend you give them the money to allow them to directly purchase the membership for their account.

Would it really go that far? It's prodably just someone who sms'ed, got the code for P2P, and didn't used it on he's account.

Edit: called my friend, told this, and he said he will just do this month out (he has yet 26 days P2P from the 28, he allready got 50 huntin) and then he's going to buy wallie carts which is legal.

So he can be hacked?

Wait a minute, your worried about getting your friend getting hacked here?! Did you miss what I said?. Being "hacked" now that should be the last thing on your mind, he will get banned if he is not the one paying for the membership fee, you say he'll do it for only a month? A month is alot of time, hell, I guarantee you that Jagex will be contacting your friend about this matter fairly soon.

In Jagex eye's this is how they view the one month comment:

You are not even going to pay for it, you will cheat us out of money, and leave the burden on someone else's credit card? We have put our heart and souls into this making game, and your going to not even pay a mere 5 dollars for a month's worth of fun, and on top of that the credit card isn't even yours?

Doesn't take a geneous to know what he's doing is going to bite him in the [wagon] in the long run, this is not going to benefit your friend in any way, shape or form, he will not get away with this. I'll tell you this much though, after Jagex finds out, your friend will never have to be worrying about being hacked ever again.

I know i'm being harsh here, but if your friend doesn't learn to pay for things he will end up in jail someday. You may be thinking about "So what, it's just a game that costs 5 dollars" but that will escalate, thieves start small, and only get more greedy over time.

no he cant be hacked because u said when he put the code in he had to press sms so that means txt not by credit card plus my son does the same on rs he does not like to tell ppl he dad plays lol which am not really old *cought* 25* anyways he does the same shouts off his big mouth saying my friend pays for my p2p but nothink had happend so far for him or me so just tell ur friend to keep hes days and after that dont shout his big mouth off any more well hope that helped

Some sort of new trick perhaps?

For starters though, you could edit out him name and respect his privacy.

Look, he didn't stole it, a friend on chat prodably sms't to jagex, recieved the code on he's mobile for one month p2p and gave the code to Simon as a present.

It's from an sms, not fraudet or something. Still I alsow toled him there is a smell at this case. I hope for him this is legal and unhackable.

like i said he will not be hacked he has no worries on that plus for the other guy sms is a txt its not a credit card so the lad should be ok like i said in the other msg my kid does the same thing shouts hes big mouth off and nothink has happend to him so tell ur friend not to worry

And happy grammar! ^^

I don't think that your friend will get in trouble, after all he had already recieved the pin. If I was Jagex, I would probably detect this kind of fraud and take action. Your friend is in danger though, the person that give him the code may be able to prove it is his account and "steal" it. Good luck anyway.

Hmm k,

he just set some recoveries, a fresh pass and a pin.

i also agree, if they "friend" pays for the account to be p2p, he can steal it. all he has to do is say i forgot my password. contact them and give them to pay info cuz he forgot his questions and i bet they will give him the password. as long as he has the code he used to pay for it, its HIS account.

i dont think changing the password would help, just make sure he has a bank password too.

Did his friend just gave him a pin number? If it is then his account won't be hacked I don't think :-k but if the money does not get sent to them beware your account will disabled and won't be able to use untill they get their money back his friend might be making him member but he might not be paying for it. So if i was him cancel it before things get bad, never trust anyone if you don't know how the system works.
