New Forum or Sticky In Player Made Guides

Featured Replies

Lately i've popped in and out of the player made guides forum to see if there are any guides for those oh so useful things here and there. But lately, with new guides, they aren't necessarly guides, but rather information and tips. The Player made GUIDES forum is obviously for guides, not short tips on things.

However, a lot of these are nice things to know and good tid-bits of info. So i would recommend making a seperate forum or sticky for tips and tricks, rather than a full fledged guide.

Obviously, a draw-back is defining "What is a guide?" I think the most sensible way to describe it, is something that is descriptive and consists of an amount of information that tells you how to do multiple tasks.

For instance, how to cut willows effictively, is not a guide. It refers only to willows, and one way of cutting willows most likely. however a guide on how to woodcut effectively, and how to WC willows effictively would be a guide.

I hope i've voiced my opinion pretty good. If you haven't seen what i'm talking about, there are a lot of threads in there that fit my description.

I think this is actually something that has been brought up a few times, yet a decision was never actually made. I think it would be a nice sticky to have around. People could post one-liner tips, or even things that are a paragraph or two, but just don't need a thread of its own.

A lot of people do post good, helpful tips on the Player-Made Guides forum, and I'm starting to feel like the bad cop when I lock them and inform them that there just isn't enough information :( A sticky would be nice because it would leave people feeling like although their guide does not require its own thread, it can still be helpful to us somewhere on the forum.

Although it's really supposed to be asking for help and asking for advice.
