RuneScape Information

  1. You're telilng me. I wish I didn't sell my p hats and santa hats, I could have relogged on and sold them today for actual money. Sigh lol I remember buying a santa hat for 50k and a week later selling it for 250k and how rich I was..... Whoops I can top that. I gave away my collection of party hats to Krest. They were just clogging up my bank space, and not valuable at all at the time.. (well, under 10k anyway) Heh. I've gotta say that I had a bit better luck with my p-hats. Many people don't seem to remember the time of great Dupe. :) Altought I had p-hats from the original drop party I also got my slice from Kaitnieks "unofficial" drop party. Also I had a pleasure to know one of those guys who could use Autorune or some other software to dupe any items in the game. I remember a guy named Kossu giving me 3-4 full p-hat sets at that time. Many were banned at the time when a lot of duped items were found from their bank accounts. I was cunning like a fox and distributed those party hats to many account so the number wasn't so great in an individual bank account. Of course all the fun shiet happened years after when Runescape got populated and amount of active players were multiplied like with 200x. I think I had like 6-8 phats left when friend told me that prices of phats had sky rocketed, lol. At that point a price for party hat varied between 100 - 500 million depending on the color. I remember making like 2000 millions(2billions) by selling the hats. Back then people paid 4-6EUR / million for the in-game money. That was a good income during my studies. :)
  2. Oh god, these memories really give me chills. Maybe there will be a day when Runescape ~2001-2004 generation could gather and remember the good times. It's funny how long this topic has been up and people has been responding it even if delay are in years! I wouldn't actually even respond and bump up this thread but then I saw this reply by Sue Me. Even though it might not interest any of you I'm going to write down short history of Runescape and me. Maybe this makes easier to remember all the old schoolers. So I was 14 years old when Runescape came out and I think that I started playing it at spring 2001. Broadband connections weren't really common thing in Finland that time and I started the game with 56kbt/s modem dial-up connection. This was my first MMORPG. There weren't many at the time besides maybe Ultima Online and some others. Btw, I made really costly bills to my parents at that time. Playing had to be controlled and I wasn’t allowed to play after 9pm or something. I still remember to waking up when my parents were at sleep and started computer and I silenced the external modem with a pillow so dial-up sound wouldn’t wake them up, lol. J Some of you might know me by in-game nicks Cattie Brie, Magic Vendor, Ultima Str and Sir Hyvis. I actually played a lot with my friend’s account 6 ft under which was a higher lvl account to get on with guys like Sue Me and Adx1. But how it all really got there? When I started there were 3 servers of populated like 200-300 concurrent players each of them. Obviously at that point there weren’t Wilderness which actually came out 13 August 2001. That time was mostly roaming around (iron geared :D)with my first character Sir Hyvis and it can be called my first main-character. It never actually got high lvl, maybe around 55s. I can remember mostly some fellow Finnish players from that time. Actually first guy who killed me was named Killer L00P. J Then I met some really old schoolers like por0, y0xxer arch, queen archer, mongoloidi and some others. Lummox was the highest lvl player I remember and he had some alt PK char too, cant’remember the name. At that point I noticed that player killing was the thing and I enjoyed it the most. The player killing was mostly roaming the axel Lumbridge – Varrock – Barb Village – Falador. The ones that don’t know you could start your character as PK enabled or disabled. And If I remember right, it could be switched once after that. You know some people used that “credit” in heat of the fight when they were afraid to die. No more PK to them before Wildie. J That era lasted a while and when I really understood the joy of PK I created the character I loved the most, Magic Vendor. The name is actually from Ultima Online where NPC-shopkeepers were called Vendors and for some reason I put the Magic in front of it, maybe the idea was to get magic to that char at some point. Thank god, I never did that. I mean it became one of the most famous plate pure PKers. Pre-wild time was so freaking exciting maybe when it all was so shiny and new what comes to MMORPG’s, player killing and playing games over internet with others! I think that rune ore came in the same patch as Wilderness. Back then I can remember Magic Vendor getting to lvl 20-30 or so. I’m not sure if catching was possible at that time too. I think that you could do that but It actually mostly happened by accident and at that point I really didn’t master it at all. At later point catching was the most important asset to me when it comes to PK but let’s get to that some other time. So, not much stories about the era before Wilderness. It was the time of discovering and doing everything a bit. Maybe someone could enlighten more about that time. I think that I’m going to make a series of posts about the history of RS from my point of view. This is the first one, sorry for the offtopic. But I’d really like to hear some similar stories. To be continuted.
  3. Heh cool to see this many old school people talking here. :D I used to play on nicks such as cattie brie, magic vendor, ultima str. :)
