  1. well with your stats your best option is duo mage with hybrids...i woulndt try it with just you as the only mage just yet

And that means?... Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about. Would I be maging?

  2. I was wondering if I could do DK's.

My stats are in my sig, and I have full guthans + about 3m to spend on gear.

Also, if my stats are good enough, would anyone want to take me? Seeing as I've never done it before and really have no idea what I'm doing...

EDIT: My stat sig hasn't updated yet it seems... I have 60 pray which I just got last night. You can check my high scores if you really want to.

  3. That happened to me too. I just logged out and logged back in and my cat was back, right beside me. :D

This might be different though. Live others said, he might have run away because of lack of food.

  4. I wrote a review for F2P, because it's advertised as being a video game, regardless whether got all the features or not.

The argument some of you are putting forward is like:

'You can't write a review for WoW unless you've tried all of the weapons in the game, because if you anything below *such and such an armour* or haven't paid another $40 to unlock this map, you haven't played it'.

Free to Play IS a full Runescape game. Members just get 'extra' components to add to it.

    At least, that's my view.

Yes, but you're saying that you're writing a review for Runescape. If it's just for f2p, then you should title it a Review for F2p Runescape or something.

  5. [hide=Long quote chain]

    A few mistakes you made...

"...the whole game is played with just your mouse."

You can also chat with friends (with the keyboard!), which is an integral part of the MMO aspect of the game.

However, the keyboard is not needed to play the game - which is the point I was trying to make.

Ya, you're pretty much right here. But honestly, why does it matter that you only use your mouse? It seems to be working out fine for 200,000+ other people. (just guessing on the numbers)

"The goal of Runescape is to complete the quests that are scattered at random points throughout the world."

Or skill... Go PKing, play some of the several dozen minigames, form a clan, get a group together and go monster hunting... It's shallow to just define one goal, because you make it sound like there isn't much else to do other than grind skills to meet quest requirements (although to be fair, that's basically all you can do with f2p).

I forgot to mention Minigames - granted, however, I did mention skilling as a goal. See the quite in my last post, in case you missed it in the initial review.

Yes, but you're still making it seem like the most important goal is to complete all the quests, which is so far from the truth. You say that some people choose to raise their skills to the max after they've done all the quests. Once again, you're making it seem like quests are a first priority. The goal of Runescape is whatever you make it, whether it be to finish all the quests, get a certain amount of money, get 99 in a skill, get some reward from a minigame, whatever.

"...the Runescape economy would collapse due to lack of supply of F2P items such as normal Rune Essence, Yew logs, Lobsters, and Air Runes."

98% of serious runecrafters don't use normal essence, the member's yew trees are always crowded, lobsters are often power fished for exp in both premium and nonmembers, and because of level restrictions, everybody has to start out making air runes. They're also a staple rune for most spells which makes them a bulk item.

Perhaps collapse is the wrong word - but prices would increase dramatically, because Yews, Lobsters, and Air Runes are F2P'ers main source of income. If this was suddenly cut from the game - prices for the items would increase dramatically, causes an imbalance in the game.

I don't really see what this has to do with the rating of the gameplay, but whatever...

If you want to give a higher score, you should really consider getting a membership and playing some minigames with friends... And IMO gameplay > graphics, but that's just me ::'

Yes, but as F2P is advertised as a game in itself, I decided to write a review for this. Some of you don't seem to understand - it's "Free to Play", meaning it's a game, but for free. It feels more like a demo, though. A Demo, and a F2P Game are two separate things.

I can't believe you could think this. That's like going and getting the Battlefield: Bad Company demo off the internet for PS3, and then writing a whole review on how much it sucks when you've only played about 5% of the whole game. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would write a review on Runescape when they aren't even a member. Maybe change it to a review on Free to Play Runescape.

Regardless, thank you for a mature response.

  6. The goal of Runescape is to complete the quests that are scattered at random points throughout the world. Many players aim to max out their skill levels and rake in as much gold as they can once they have completed the quests.

You're acting like the whole point of Runescape is quests. This is completely untrue. I for one, hate quests, but I still love Runescape. I love to skill, monster hunt, play mini games, hang with friends, and do PvP. I don't know how you can say that the goal of Runescape is to complete all the quests. You can do whatever you want, and make your own goals. If you simply "won" or "completed" the game once you finished all the quests, I think a lot of people would be rather disappointed. You choose your own goals in Runescape, whether it be getting 99 in a skill, getting a certain amount of money, or whatever.

  7. I really don't think the new detail mode will give any advantage, other than it just looks cooler. If you noticed in some of the pictures of it, everything is bigger, so how much of the map you can see will most likely be the same. I don't see any advantages that you would have while playing in high detail mode. It just looks nicer.

*sorry if someone already said this, I didn't really feel like reading 3 posts of replies -.- *

  8. Great tips!

If I've already done 2 tasks with Duradel, would it make a difference if I switched over to Mazchna?

And you get the same amount of points for a streak for doing 9 mazchna tasks and 1 Duradel task (if its the 10th one)?

  9. I just got Swiftkit, and I was just wondering if its against the RS rules. Also, it won't give me a keylogger or anything will it? :ohnoes:

And if this is against the rules, sorry! and mods can lock or whatever.

  10. I really don't like this new look tbh. It seems very unorganized with no dividing line between the avatar part and the post, and the index is really weird. (Not to mention the order of some of the boards is different?) I would love if there was a way that we could go back to the old version of the forums (just like a skin for it or whatever)

Edit: Darnit! my sig is back to my old one! I lost my favorite quote :(

  11. You call those the "good old days" of runescape?... wow...

Heres what i see as the good old days of runescape:

    (Ignore the weird font lol)

Ahh yes... Back when you had to click for every time you fished, when you couldn't retreat from combat before 3 rounds, and when you couldn't eat in combat. Back when mage pures that were level 30 could own level 100s in stakes of phat sets. Back when you could have 99 range and 10 hp. Back when santa hats were 200k, and blood runes were 1k each. Back when there were no notes, so you either had to trade everything 12 at a time, or make certain things into certificates. Yep, those were the good old days...
