  1. Ha ha?

I dont hate competitiveness. If anything, competitiveness is a problem in this game.

And yeah Kent, plus, the amount of people here that play daily or second-daily isnt really much.

    Only around 6 I think. That's not exactly a leage lol :P

Other than that, before you consider the league everyone should vs Kent and Mano to see if they can win sometimes atleast.

A game that allows serious business games and "for fun" games, is a good game.

I don't play daily, or second daily, or whatever, but I don't see how it makes a difference. I mean, I haven't played Starcraft in a long time, yet I can still build a worker and then perfectly clone my starting workers to their mineral patches. Some things just stick with you forever I guess.

And if Kent and mano are the best, what stops people from trying? It'd make them better players and allow them to learn the game better. Granted, I've never beat either of them, but still .

  2. I like the idea of a league, but who's going to determine the skill of each player? Because that could open up a serious can of e-worms. :uhh: Maybe we should do a tournament to determine the skill of each player?

How about this. When the league starts, everyone who's in has a record of 0-0-0 (Wins-Loses-Draws), and we play games that would affect the record. The rules of these games would be similar to tournament rules, with banned stages, glitches, etc. Everyone in the league would have to play each member at least once. At the end of a league "season" a winner would be determined by however many games they won. We can also use this system as determining skill level and then incorporate a point based system.

  3. I've played the demo a bit, and it's so much fun. I was a bit worried that my computer wouldn't be able to run the game, but it runs great. I'll definitely buy this game.

  4. You know, I really don't see why you guys bother having tournaments anymore. It was fun maybe the first time, but now there are less than 10 people who are even interested in it. You want to use official tournament rules, but you don't get those right either...

I've had fun with all the tournaments so far, and no one is being forced to enter either. I'm not trying to speak for anyone, but I think everyone who entered had fun too. I also don't see whats so bad with having small tourneys either, if it's small, it's small. As for the official rules, I'm using them as a guideline but there's obviously a problem there, and I'm open to any suggestions to make them better.

Also, RayOxide does raise some valid points, some that are acknowledged by the smash community.

    I understand.

Here are the standard tournament rules as far as stage picks go:

Neutral (Pretty much every tournament will allow these as the initial stage):

Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Yoshi's Island

Neutral / Counterpick (Tournaments usually place these stages in one category or another):

Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Halberd, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon Stadium (Melee)

Counterpick (The loser of the previous match can select one of these stages, or the neutral ones):

Brinstar (Melee), Corneria (Melee), Distant Planet, Frigate Orpheon, Green Hill Zone, Jungle Japes (Melee), Luigi's Mansion, Norfair, Picto Chat, Pirate Ship, Pokemon Stadium 2, Rainbow Cruise (Melee), Yoshi's Island (Melee)

Counterpick . Banned (Tournaments place these either under counterpick or banned):

Green Greens (Melee), Mario Circuit, Onett (Melee), Port Town Aero Dive, Skyworld

So... my point? I bolded the ones that have hazards, or major stage modifications. Note that Yoshi's Island, despite having a life saving blob thing, is actually a NEUTRAL stage. Halberd, despite the claw that attacks with little to no warning, and the cursor - beam, is considered either Neutral or Counterpick depending on the tournament. Look at the counterpicks, many of them have obvious hazards.

Why? Stages aren't always banned for Hazards. For example, Hyrule Temple (Melee) is BANNED. It has NO hazards, it has no changing parts. It's simply too large. The same applies to NPC. Tournaments don't ban NPC because of the Chimera. If the Chimera was the only fault, it would probably be a tournament legal stage. RayOxide is right, from a tournament perspective. A good player will never get caught by the Chimera if you put him alone on the stage. He'll only ever be hit by the Chimera because of his opponent's actions, be it pressuring him in that direction, or actively swinging him that way. Look at Picto Chat, with numerous powerful hazards. Frigate Orpheon with it's "hey let's go upside down and gimp all recoveries" is a counter pick. Corneria with the berserk Arwings is a counterpick. Brinstar and Norfair are both counterpicks despite the lava, and in Norfair's case, the lava streams and walls.

True, but it is kind of difficult to counterpick online. Not everyone has a computer in the same room as their Wii. It is possible to have each player let the other know what stage they want to counterpick, or each player PM's a plan of stages. Like if I lose the first game, I want to counterpick (Stage), if I win, we go to your counterpick, etc.

I am thinking about adding some more stages like Norfair and Corneria, and everyone else can suggest some stages too. Even if the stages wouldn't be played on, it wouldn't hurt to add them.

The thing with tournament rules is that you seem to be trying to establish your own set. That's pretty stupid, considering you don't really have a community of players. You have maybe half a dozen players. Do you really need to divide this number further by fighting over setting up your own tournament rules?

I guess tournaments are better with a lot more players.. I could scrap this idea and we could do something else, like the league Ginger Warrior suggested.

  5.

Any specific stores? I don't really trust online buying.

Wal-Mart and other department stores, or game stores like EBgames, Gamestop, etc.

    Here's the box art.

  6. Maybe the TC hasn't played since RSC, back then ores would drop automatically if you mined one with a full inventory.

    Powermining is for losers. :P

Nats + fire staff + pickaxe (fire staff wielded) = phree steel barz rly.

    alot longer to bank too.

More efficient to powermine and mine rune ore. It would take me 78k gold ore to get to 99, but I can mine 2.2k rune ores and just buy the gold. It would take me much less time to mine 2k rune ores...

  7. The Orange Box has Half-Life 2, and the expansions, episode one and two. It also comes with Portal and Team Fortress 2. You can also buy Half Life 2 off of Steam, but I'd say The Orange Box is a much better deal.

  8.

And you just dont get what I mean do you?

If the game is a gamble why do people take the hazard stages off? I find it so dumb.

For ones like the big blue and the old DK one, (and side scrollers) I find it ok to turn them off since they're really stupid places, but ones like say, Port town is actually fun. And kinda easily avoided hazards too.

In a tournament, the idea is to remove the luck factor as much as possible, and center on the skill of the players. Yes, it would take skill to knock your opponent into the Chimera, or avoid Pokemon and Assist trophies, but the appearance is based on luck. You get a Goldeen, he gets Latios/Latias. You're recovering, and an assist trophy spawns right next to him. The Chimera can also spawn while you're in a difficult situation too. Some characters can lose their escape option if a Chimera spawns right behind them.

Kent: About Pokemon stadium, are you talking about the brawl version being bad? I thought that was Pokemon stadium 2... And I'd like to add a few more stages, any suggestions?

  9. Classic System, no doubt. However a lot of the systems titles have aged horribly due to the awkward controller Nintendo decided to use.

Yeah, the N64 controller is one of the worst controllers, and I'd say it's Nintendo's worst controller.

The Gamecube controller is one of the best though ^_^.

  10. Wireless Router?

Like the ones you use to access internet via sattelite*?

    Arent they expensive?! :wall:

and Caxis, for the winter tourny, will you let Norfair heat us up a little? :XD:

Nah seriously is there a setup for the stages?

I think Battlefield until the semi finals, then Yoshi's Island until finals, (then FD) suits the mood.

    (Not really)

A router is a device that splits your internet connection, so you can hook up multiple computers with one modem. Wireless routers cost around $50-$60, but these are US/Canadian prices.. In Australia.. Well I found this x.x

  11. The N64 was great. I had some great multiplayer fun with my friends :D.

My only income back then was a paper route, which was like $40 a month.

    My games.

    Yoshi's Story

    Space Station Silicon Valley

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

    Body Harvest

    Banjo Kazooie

    Harvest Moon

    Blast Corps

    Ogre Battle 64

    Donkey Kong 64

I don't know why, but I never bought Mario 64, Banjo Tooie, Smash bros., Majora's Mask, or Goldeneye..

I picked up Ogre Battle a couple years ago for $10 at my local video rental store, which was a great deal considering the rarity. The store also had a bunch of games I wanted, Gauntlet Legends, Duke Nukem 64, Jet Force Gemini.. All for $10 or less, I was foolish to not buy them =\.

But Ogre Battle is an excellent strategy game, and I've spent many hours on it. I've made so many units, made great characters, found some good equipment.. But I never beat the game once . I should pick it up and beat it one of these days..

Body Harvest is a great game too, an early GTA 3 actually. You go back into different eras and locations (Greece 1916, Java 1941, America 1966, and Siberia 1991) to fight aliens, that attacked those eras.. I don't know why they didn't go further in the past or something though. It's also a game I never finished, I got stuck on one of the stages and got distracted with other games.

  12. How about we just use the starter stages?

    Battlefield

    Final Destination

    Smashville

    Yoshi's Island

    Castle Siege

    Delfino

    Halberd

    Lylat Cruise

    Pokémon Stadium 1

  13. Some stages (like Spear Pillar) are banned because the stage interactions are just way too one-sided. If you're stuck in the bottom corridor and the beam comes straight across, you can't avoid it and the other player's just effectively been given a life, which is ridiculous.

You can shield the beam :o. For stages, we can have two lists and each person can ban one stage per list. One list would have starters, and the second list would have the rest of the stages. Dave's stupid rule will also be in effect.

  14.

He's right ray, you can't play custom stages on wifi. Sad but true. And caxis that's how u gett all cd's right? I did that and it faild...never got any cd's even with sandbag on high.. >.<

Stickers too ;O. I made each round 8 minutes, and I got around 4-10 CDs and over 50 stickers each time. I don't think time really matters though. And you won't get any CDs if you already have all the ones that drop. I also noticed that the more "fresh" the sandbag is, the more it drops.
