  1. Hi, Do any of you have any tips on how I could turn 130M into like 250M? I haven't played this year but I'd really love to get a Party Hat .. I never had one. Are there any good ways to invest and profit? How is merchanting nowadays? Thank you guys - Alice
  2. Ah, this topic brings back a lot of memories.. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from back then since I never even thought of saving any :( Even if I would have saved pictures I probably would have lost them by now..
  3. As I already stated, it is probably a rather simple process to add something like that, besides, I believe it was added while things were made/heavily modified. And why would it be so unlikely? Most things in the game most likely originated from little ideas like that. There are probably a lot of small things that no one notices that various people involved in building Runescape have added. Perhaps it is 5% easier to successfully pickpocket men than women? Perhaps one kind of graphical model for a kind of monster has a slightly higher chance of dropping a certain item than the same monster with an other graphical model? We don't notice it, but I can guarantee you that there are lots of little things like that. Why? It doesn't make the game much different, sure, but it's fun for the developers and it gives a little more variation and realism. Haha, look, Runescape wasn't created as some game that needed to be finished and up and running in one week just because some big company said so. I'm sure the main thing with creating Runescape was having fun rather than trying to make a game as quickly as possible back then ;) And as far as I know, Andrew is certainly that kind of person that would enjoy those little variations even more than what the average game developer would. There is no doubt that time was/can still be spent on little things like this one we're addressing now when it comes to game developing, it's part of the fun of being a game developer.
  4. I don't think so.. It could very well have been something that was just invented "just like that" while the basics of combat in Runescape were created/modified at some point. Like "hey let's throw in that", rather than being something that was planned and discussed for weeks. If I had suggested that they had added it recently, that would seem more unlikely.
  5. Yes, but about attacking first, that is only if the "attacking" variable is triggered after that you hit the other player. I believe that the variable is turned on immediatley before your player launches the attack on someone (assuming that player uses auto retaliation) so I wouldn't place my money on that dealing the first hit would be benefitical in this manner. Same if you're safespotting; as long as the other player have you "locked on target" (automatically attacking) - whether an obstacle is in the way or not - I believe that means that his/her "battle variable" is on, hence it wouldn't give you an advantage (according to what I think). However, attacking while the other player is fleeing or eating would be benefitical if this is true. However, I should remind you of that I haven't experienced this in PvP, and even if it would be present there, it would probably be difficult to notice. But, think about it, players fleeing while being attacked seem to be more vulnerable to attacks, even in PvP, it could just be coincidental though.
  6. Seriously, I said that it was "based on reality". Not an attempt of recreating reality digitally. Reality is used as a foundation while fictional functions are featured to make a game enjoyable. I don't need to explain this to you, you know very well what I mean. Reflect upon the meaning of a text read before responding to it, if you will. Yes. The easiest way to notice this would obviously be to fight NPCs (monsters) that may hit you from time to time, but don't hit you constantly/never. I doubt it would take much effort. Just something like "the defence only gives 80% of the protection it would give if the player was attacking the NPC back while he/she is not attacking it", but scripted, obviously. It wouldn't take them long, besides, it could've been something they thought up long ago just to make the game more realistic. Note that I am not suggesting that this is a new update, but rather that it has been around for at least several years of time.
  7. Is this real life? ... No, but if you have played Runescape you may notice how it in many ways based on reality. No one can miss this. Guess why real life things such as "water", "gravity", "matter" or "weight" are represented and featured in a digital manner within the game. Yes. What? Why bother what?
  8. Hey, it certainly is that way in a real life fight. It is a bit related to "Offence is the best defence" if you know what I mean. Perhaps they would want the players to be more easily hit while not attacking back? It does make sense since it would certainly be easier hitting something that isn't hitting you back, so don't come and say it seems all crazy. Now to me, it seems to be this way in Runescape, at least when NPCs attack, don't know about other players. Obviously better defence bonuses results in one getting hit less, but now I'm talking about that the chance of getting hit feels increased while not attacking whatever is attacking you back. Uh yes? I never said it wasn't. But the chance of getting hit while having a +300 defence bonus is not the same as it is while having a +/- 0 defence bonus, however there is a chance of getting hit just as much with both.
  9. I don't think it would be so difficult. There is obviously a variable for whether the player is attacking the NPC or not, because when it is active you keep attacking it, etc. If that variable would be 0, you could perhaps have a higher chance of getting hit (lower defence?). Well it could be understandable. They could want "a player not taking battle stance" more vulernable to attacks, since the player often looks away from the attacking NPC and would therefore be more vulnerable. I tend to be :( But it seems a bit unlikely since I've noticed it so many times now.. It is in English.. Just a tad bit difficult to explain.
  10. No, it's like invisibly lower defence, no visible stat changes or anything like that. What I meant was that you seem to be more vulnerable to attacks while not "replying fire". I haven't read it somewhere, but it most certainly seems that way, judging by how it's been for me through years of playing RuneScape. To put it simply; the chance of getting hit by an attacking NPC seems quite significantly larger while not actively attacking it, when only it is attacking you. Example situations are when you eat, when you get attacked with "Auto Retaliation" off, etc.
  11. Is it somewhere officially confirmed that you have "lower defence" while not attacking an enemy? I have never heard of such a thing but I am convinced that one is much more easily hit while not actively attacking the "attacker" so to speak. You can often notice this while eating during a fight, at least I do. Very often when I eat while being a attacked, I get hit, while I perhaps very rarely get hit by that monster/NPC otherwise. What is your view on this? Is it just random? Is it confirmed somewhere officially? If so, where?
  12. Junk is basically items with more or less value that people really aren't buying. In other words, stuff that has value, but no one wants to buy. You could trade junk for pure cash, but as others already stated, it's against the rules to interact with two accounts simultaneously, so I would strongly advice you to stay away from it. My best tip is to try to use the money to enjoy that other account simply, it's surely possible in one way or another.
  13. For melee slayer training, this is (if you ask me) the best gear (excluding degradables and 3rd age): Helmet: Slayer Helmet > Black Mask > Helm of Neitiznot / Dragon Full Helm > Other Cape: Fire Cape > Trimmed Skillcape > Skillcape > Obsidian Cape > Legends Cape > Other Amulet: Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory > Other Weapon: Abyssal Whip > Saradomin Godsword > Other Platebody: Bandos Chestplate > Dragon Platebody > Fighter Torso > Granite Body > Rune Platebody > Other Shield: Rune Defender > Dragonfire Shield > Obsidian Shield > Other Platelegs: Bandos Tassets > Dragon Platelegs/skirt > Rune Platelegs > Other Gloves: Recipe for Disaster gloves > Fist of Guthix gauntlets > Other Boots: Dragon Boots > Bandos Boots > Rune Boots > Other Ring: Ring of Wealth / Warrior Ring / Berserker Ring (Depends on the task and your needs. Wealth should be used for tasks with good drops)
  14. Hello again Tip.it! Since 2007, I have only gained about 2 - 3 combat levels (one inactive year though), and I feel that I need increase it a bit, as well as expand with another 99 skill. I want to achieve 99 attack in preferably but not necessarily the quickest way possible. I currently have all melee combat levels balanced around 75 and I am wondering what you would recommend for me to kill in order to get 99 attack. I know several decent options, but I am however very unsure of what would be the most effective experience-wise on a long term basis. Anyone have any good suggestions? Cheers - Alice
  15. I disagree, I'd say from somewhere 80 - 85 woodcutting, cutting magic logs for selling is definitely more profitable than selling yew logs. Assuming one uses a rune hatchet or better.
  16. If you ask me, the skills that require the least effort are definitely fletching and cooking. They don't take nearly as much effort as many other skills to get to 99, you get experience quickly, and can do it (cook and fletch) pretty much all over the game, and also gather the necessary resources (raw food and logs) all over the game as well. When it comes to simplicity, woodcutting, mining and fishing are the easiest, you could stand by some trees/rocks/fishing spots and just cut/mine/fish and drop the logs/ore/fish all the way to 99. However, these take a lot longer than fletching and cooking. When it comes to overall fastest skill to 99 excluding the money factor, I suppose it's prayer. Not too sure.
  17. Well, I know, I should probably use a Torag's/Dharok's/Guthan's platebody for some occasions because they have very high defence at a very low price. I still feel that I want something like Bandos Chestplate though. Oh well, thanks anyway, I will probably stock up on some Barrows platebodies but also try to get my hands on a Bandos Chestplate. I suppose, hmm. I'm not going for as high strength as possible, but am often looking for good offensive bonuses (like Rune Defender, Warrior Ring), I don't think I will get a Berserker Ring because of this. Yeah, obviously, whip is what I use unless I'm training strength, and then I use slash as well.. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
  18. Hello, I'd love to get some advice on my armor.. This is the my "casual battle armor": Helm of Neitiznot Untrimmed Skillcape Amulet of Fury Granite Body Rune Defender Dragon Plateskirt Gloves (Dragon) (From Recipe for Disaster) Dragon Boots Warrior Ring I want to replace the Granite Body with any of the platebody equivalents stated below, preferably the Bandos Chestplate. Dragon Chainbody Bandos Chestplate Dragon Platebody Economy plays in, I don't have the cash for any of them right now. However, I have 99 Woodcutting and am using the Dragon Hatchet, so it wouldn't take too much time to save up for any of those. What do you think? When it comes to gloves, I have not yet completed Recipe for Disaster, and lack some of the requirements, and am therefore using the so-called Dragon Gloves. About the ring, I'm not sure whether to go with the Warrior Ring (+4 slash) or Ring of Wealth (Increases chances of some rare drops), any advice on that? Note, as a perfectionist, I am unable to use Barrows armor for purposes other than as just "nice skilling clothing", haha. Thanks - Alice
  19. Absolutely. Traditionally, Player Killing has been one of the best aspects of RuneScape. It involves high stakes, a lot of fun and excitement and if it goes well enough, one can very much profit from it. Player Killing comes with a big risk, but RuneScape is just a game, and that risk is worth taking for the fun you can get out of it.
  20. Well, assuming you don't have loads of money to spend, you should get the Dragon hatchet if you are going to cut a lot.. If you are just cutting like 1,000 logs and then don't cut for a month again, I would stick to the Rune hatchet.
  21. I'm doing it as well, soon, hopefully it'll go well.. Good luck to you!
  22. I have been inactive for a while and currently don't feel like I know about many of the newer equipment and armor, etc. Is there any kind of non-degradable melee equipment superior/similar to rune besides these? 3rd Age Melee Bandos Armadyl Penance Granite Dragon Also, I'm looking for some nice plate or similar to have instead of a Granite body, any suggestions? I'm considering the Bandos chestplate but I'm unsure. Thanks - Alice
  23. Yeah, no Gree Gree or any other Monkey Madness items for that matter. Great.. I'll just have to redo half the quest.. Hopefully they'll just make it so you can get the amulet back from someone in the future.
  24. Yes and isn't that the parts with all the sneaking and jail and stuff? Plus the long cave with everything... It is like the worst part of the quest all over again.. And I don't even really know what to do ..
  25. I no longer have the so called "Monkeyspeak" or "M'speak" amulet from the quest Monkey Madness, because I went f2p for a year or so and didn't quite have bank space for it.. Do I have to redo half of Monkey Madness to get it back or is there an easier way? I have searched but found nothing.. Thanks - Alice
