  1. While very thought out I have to say that I personally feel that the OP is both right and wrong. Decrease in price is never really a bad thing, this is due to the fact that newer players need things too. The drop in the price of many items is due to the increased amounts of said items (Glories for example), this means that many newr players will have access to them. This is a natural consiquence of gaming, this is the reason there are so many updates. Something gets old... need something new! Autoing and macroing are a problem, because they add items to the game that normally take more time at the keyboard to obtain, allowing many players to get items/experience/gold much 'quicker' then other players. We all agree on that! There is little way to combat this because as soon as someone comes up with a way to combat a macro, someone comes up with a better macro. Or the addition ruins the game for everyone (Anyone remember fatigue? lol). I get annoyed at the auto-log feature. Sometimes it takes more the 30 seconds to fish a spot! Now the most brilliant move by Jagex was the addition of Construction a skill that takes money out of the economy to level (54 million gold to get to level 99 if you chop your own trees). Credit sinks, as they are called, are the usual way games can stabilize an economy though the truth is NO game created that has a free economy is free of inflation that is just fact.
  2. I agree that for many people this game is for the interactions with other players. For me though I play because it is a sandbox, I can do (Nearly) anything I want. I can go from cooking to fletching to melee combat to ranged without any penalty. Every other game I've played you can change what you do, but it costs a lot of money, or you can't change at all. In this game I can do whatever I want whenever. One day I can be a pirate, a moment later I can become a powerful wizard, the next a ninja-monkey! Speaking of I need to go to mos le'harmless and see if I can kill a pirate monkey for bones and make it into a pirate monkey greegree... I am limited in this game by my imagination and effort. Granted the question sometimes is asked, "Well, what do you do after you get level 99 in everything?" Well... first off that is a long way off for me, lol. But even then the point of RPGs is to MAKE your own fun. For example, one day I decided I was going to make a TON of redberry pies. I took all of my pies and went to catherby, stood in the bank and gave out free pies. I was the pie-man! It was fun to watch a bunch of people run up and ask for pies, not because they are expensive and rare (far from it! lol), but for the RP aspect of eating a delicious fresh-baked redberry pie! I don't need tons of freinds and lots of interaction, just some. If I was the only person on a server or in the game, I'd still play.
  3. I agree great article! I am sufficently nerdy enough to know my standard deviation of my skill set is 8.3... not bad with an average of 61.7 I am also doomed to being a perpetual mid-level character. And I also don't understand the 'pure' mentality. I feel that having all level 80 skills is better then 1 level 99 skill. I hope to someday have a few level 99 skills, but it will most likely be by accident (Restocking my food supplies and get a message 'You just reached level 99 cooking!' wow... I was level 98 when did that happen? lol)
  4. I'm amazed by how many people post "Too many posts to read..." Isn't the point of this thread to read all the things people have to say? Yes I read everything before posting :P Pointless facts: If you have happened to complete Shilo Village before Pirate's Treasure then you can smuggle Karajama rum by taking it to your bank in Shilo then pull it out at another bank in the world. If you are carrying the book o' piracy (Written by hook hand Morrisane... Ali gets around...) and wear your monkey speak amulet you can talk to Monkey Pirates on Mos Le'Harmles Island. It is some funny dialog.
  5. After much risk to my characters general health I was able to come up with some rough data for Braindeath 'Rum'! It can only be purchased on Mos Le'Harmless island after the Cabin Fever Quest. You can buy it from any of the bars on the island for 30 coins as long as you have the 'Book o' Piracy' in your inventory. Bottle looks like Karjama Rum, but orange. Effects: You drink it and get the messege, "With a sense of impending doom you drink the 'rum' " A moment later, "You try very hard not to die" The effects kick in after the second mesege. I have drank nearly 15 bottles collecting data and this is about what I have discovered it does (other then mess you up severely): I belive all of these round all fractions up, and should be fairly accurate. All the negatives are based off your current, not maximum score. So your second drink will give you negative 15% off the 85% of your maximum. Attack: -7.5% Strength: +2 Defence: -10% Ranged: -7.5% Prayer: -7.5% Magic: -7.5% HP: +11 (This could be 15% of total, someone else will need to check this out) Agility: -15% Herblore: -7.5% Mining: +1 As you can see this is only for those who like to live dangerously, or don't like to live at all... wonder why I spend so much money on it everytime I'm in town?
  6. The price is indeed 20 PoE. When you drink the Red rum you say "It feels like burning!" and when you drink the blue rum you say "My liver is melting!" I love this mini-game
  7. [hide=dispositioned]First time poster, long time player of Runescape and user of this site. Good news: Stuffed snake does indeed give 20hp XP: Grinding Monkey nut: 0xp Slicing Red Banana: 0xp Stuffing Snake: 0xp Cooking: 180xp Glad I could help contribute to this site, I've been coming here so long. It is nice to finally help out. I forgot to check xp the first time I made one so I made two more. I also found out they are un-tradable, but that is almost a given. If anyone is interested I once discovered exactly what brain-death rum does to a character, I can find my old notes or put my character's life on the line again to re-discover it. Just let me know! [pokemama 12/17: welcome to the forums! Thanks for the info on the stuffed snake. Since the nuts cannot be obtained after the quest, I've pretty much decided that it will *not* be added to the cooking guide. *IF* brain-death rum is available after the quest, the info might be a good addition to the Beer and Wines general guide? Thanks again for wanting to help - I look forward to more research from you!] [pokemama 12/18: all posts to this point have been added to the draft guide. Need to confirm roast and cooked rabbit healing xp from KB.][/hide]
