  1. My friend got Vista.............thing is that 75% of his Windows XP programs won't work on Vista. LOLZ!!!
  2. I had a similar problem, but I don't know if its the solution to your problems. Sometimes, I would minimize the window Runescape is on (right when the window is still black) and then later on, after its supposed to be done loading, I have a black screen that appears to be loading (but its not). My solution is to keep the Runescape window open/restored/maximized (not minimized) when it loads until you see the gray from its splash screen. I hope this helps.
  3. I currently need help in removing 0 byte empty [Caution: Executable File] files. I tried the old fashion method of right-click > delete, but it says that it is being used by another user or programs (no other users on my comp. except me). I have also tried using cmd. Here's some of the commands that I used, but did not seem to work. taskkill /im (program name) >got message: could not find process... taskkill /f /im (program name) >got message: could not find process... taskkill /f /t /im (program name) >got message: could not find process... del /f (program name) >got message: another person/program is using this file. I have double-checked the entries and location of the files, yet still can't get rid of them. Any ideas how?
  4. Theres a problem, my internet connection speed is, at the highest, 46.6 kbps, regular speed at 35 kbps (I play RS on Low) and loading speed is incredibly slow. File download speed for pictures on websites, 20 secs+ per picture, download speed is never at 35, but at less than 4. Second, campus library isn't very big, also been through their small selection of books (which aren't very helpful). Also, nearest public library is far away and that my parents can't drive me there as they have to work. Also, no nearby school buddies or neighbors that we know =/ (major bummer). Tried translation technique, does not work. Only good thing is that campus computer lab internet speed is 100 mbps which makes me wonder how they managed it. :-k
  5. Things is...network admin still don't. Friends and I tried this to no avail. They say "If its blocked, its blocked."
  6. Ahhh....Websense, the name that strikes emnity to many freedom of speechers. First of all, i need help on getting past the blasted firewall in order to access research sites for many of my schools papers, i.e. http://www.pbs.org, where there is streaming content that will help me out a lot. Also, i need to access blogging sites and forums where current political issues are discussed. Blasted government class... :wall: So far, i have tried programs, i.e. packeters, ssh, http-tunneling, circumventor sites. So far, only 3 sites that i currently found have worked, however, 2 were recently blocked. Command prompt is available in Area 2, but disabled in Area 1. Also, rightclicking in start menu and possibly desktop is disabled. External programs aren't allowed to install and don't even work. Javascript is enabled though. Also, taskmanager is disabled and no way to reach safe mode on these compters. And ip-blocking is enabled including domain blocking. I hope u guys can help me with this cause Websense is becoming a pain in the neck.
  7. Or, u can go into registry and delete any registry keys relating to the trojans, just remember to back them up in case u made a mistake. I tried this numerous times and it helped me remove programs that normally couldn't have been deleted if u just go into C drive. I got W32.spybot.worm along with trojan.dropper at the same time but got rid of them all down to the last file in 3 hours. Also, check, using search option in Start for any files made during the time the trojans were installed in ur computer. Some are non-damaging files, while others are trojan-related files. Remember not to go on the internet while removing those as some might auto download to repair themselves (which can be a real pain). Safe boot is recommended.
  8. Thing i would suggest is using Ad-aware and/or ending processes related to the keylogger in Task Manager if u have Windows. If its XP, then i could help u find out how to remove it from program files and registry. But u need to know the location of the infected folder/s. These keyloggers can sometimes be made to use Microsoft Excel and then uses Oulook to send ur pass to another person. Although i haven't seen this yet, its possible because i asked one of my friends as he is a programmer. So i would suggest to close Excel or Outlook if u see them running without you opening them yourself. To open taskmanager, u need to press Ctrl+alt+delete while not having any active windows (or else u might close them for older computers). This should bring it up.
